Description of Working Group

This Working Group will specify management information and protocols
necessary to manage IP-based and OSI-based LANs and WANs in the
Internet based on OSI Management standards and drafts, NIST
Implementors Agreements and NMF Recommendations. It will also provide
input to ANSI, ISO, NIST and NMF based on experience in the Internet,
and thereby influence the final form of OSI International Standards on
management.

Goals and Milestones

Oct 1989 Completion of the following drafts: Implementors Agreements, Event Management, SMI Extensions, MIB Extensions, OSI Management Overview, Guidelines for the Definition of Internet Managed Objects.
Oct 1989 Promote development of products based on OIM agreements.
Oct 1989 Provide input to the ANSI, ISO, NIST and NMF to influence development of OSI standards and implementors agreements.
Oct 1989 Develop extensions to common IETF SMI to satisfy requirements for management of the Internet using OSI management models and protocols.
Oct 1989 Develop extensions to common IETF MIB-II to satisfy requirements for management of the Internet using OSI management models and protocols.
Oct 1989 Develop prototype implementations based on protocol implementors agreements, IETF OIM Extended SMI and Extended MIB.
Oct 1989 Develop implementors agreements for implementation of CMIP over TCP and CMIP over OSI.
