<abstract>
<t> The Originator Profile Framework (OPF) provides information about the
origin of content, together with a verifiable binding of the content
to that origin, in digital media, advertising, and email ecosystems.
In the framework, an originator holds an Originator Profile (OP): a
Core Profile (CP) issued by a CP issuer, and Profile Annotations (PA)
issued by PA issuers. The CP carries the public keys with which the
originator signs the data it originates; a PA annotates the CP with
validated attributes about the originator. Verifiers need an
authenticated way to confirm that the public keys used by an
originator and by the issuers of these documents are currently valid,
that the originator's CP has not been revoked by its CP issuer, and
that a PA has not been revoked by its PA issuer.

This document defines the OPKEY DNS resource record, which associates
a public key with a DNS name under the _op label. Its wire and
presentation formats are those of the TLSA record. The DNS does not
carry the CP or the PAs themselves; it carries records that identify
their keys by digest, and it signals, through the presence or absence
of OPKEY records, whether a CP has been revoked.

The document specifies where OPKEY records are located, how a
verifier uses them, and how DNSSEC is used to authenticate them. It
also specifies two further records under _op, of existing types: an
SVCB record by which an originator names the CP issuers it accepts,
and a TXT record whose presence signals that a PA issuer has revoked
a PA. Operational aspects of the framework, such as registration,
key rollover procedures, and revocation timing, are outside the scope
of this document.
