The IESG has no problem with the publication of 'A Description of KCipher-2 Encryption Algorithm' as an Informational RFC. The IESG has concluded that there is no conflict between this document and IETF work. The IESG would also like the RFC-Editor to review the comments in the datatracker related to this document and determine whether or not they merit incorporation into the document. Comments may exist in both the ballot and the history log. The IESG review is documented at: http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/conflict-review-kiyomoto-kcipher2/ A URL of the reviewed Internet Draft is: http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-kiyomoto-kcipher2/ The process for such documents is described at http://www.rfc-editor.org/indsubs.html Thank you, The IESG Secretary |

KCipher-2 is a stream cipher with a 128-bit key and a 128-bit initialization vector. Since the algorithm for KCipher-2 was published in 2007, security and efficiency have been rigorously evaluated through academic and industrial studies. No security vulnerability has been found as of the time this document was written. KCipher-2 offers fast encryption and decryption by means of simple operations that enable efficient implementation. KCipher-2 has been used for industrial applications, especially for mobile health monitoring and diagnostic services in Japan." It was reviewed for me by Jim Schaad, we have worked with the authors through versions -05 to -08 to improve it, -09 simply changes its expiry date. Thanks, Nevil (ISE) |
