The IESG has no problem with the publication of 'A Routing Architecture for Satellite Networks' as an Informational RFC. The IESG has concluded that this work is related to IETF work done in WG LSR, MPLS, RTGWG, TVR, SPRING, but this relationship does not prevent publishing. The IESG would also like the Independent Submissions Editor to review the comments in the datatracker related to this document and determine whether or not they merit incorporation into the document. Comments may exist in both the ballot and the history log. The IESG review is documented at: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/conflict-review-li-arch-sat/ A URL of the reviewed Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-li-arch-sat/ The process for such documents is described at https://www.rfc-editor.org/indsubs.html Thank you, The IESG Secretary |

As specified in the abstract, this document proposes a scalable routing architecture for satellite networks based on existing routing protocols and mechanisms, enhanced with scheduled link connectivity change information. This document proposes no protocol changes. The author further clarifies that this is an individual piece of work that presents their view, and that view is not the consensus of the IETF community. The work has been presented in the TVR and RTGWG WG within the Routing area but was not adopted, primarily because current satellite networks are proprietary and little information is generally available for analysis and discussion, and therefore standardization by the IETF community. |
