Abstract

Globalization of the Internet requires that domain names be able use characters outside the ASCII repertoire. This document specifies internationalized domain names (IDNs) and defines initial domain name constructs in which IDNs can be used. IDNs use characters drawn from a large repertoire (Unicode).
