I agree with Ralph, the IANA section does not make it easy for IANA to get this right without having to ask questions. Please name the registry (not the protocol field). I assume you are using the "PPP DLL Protocol Numbers" registry. Please make it clear whether you expect all values of "XX" to be the same or not.
