1. Summary
This document defines a mechanism for describing and signaling several aspects
that are used to calculate trust placed in a digital identity transaction.
Sean Turner is the document shepherd. Benjamin Kaduk is the responsible Area
Director.
2. Review and Consensus
This document has been extensively reviewed on the non-WG mailing vot@ietf.org
(https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/search/?email_list=vot) for about 3.5 years.
The document history sections lists changes made based on mail list
discussions. I do not have the exact number of mailing list members but there
appears to be at least 20 active participants. There also appears to be
external interest in this draft. Finally, there are some implementations in
the wild.
The Security and Privacy Considerations are brief but to the point. I am sure
that some will want more, but what is there are the main topics of interest.
It seems that now is the time to issue the IETF LC for this AD sponsor draft.
3. Intellectual Property
The shepherd has confirmed that each author has stated that their direct,
personal knowledge of any IPR related to this document has already been
disclosed, in conformance with BCPs 78 and 79. Note their declarations can be
found on the vot@ietf.org list 2017-11-13 and 26.
4. Other Points
There are no downrefs.
The IANA considerations section clearly defines the Vector Of Trust Components
registry that is Specification Required; the Designated Expert review process
is also included. A registration template is also included.
The IANA registration section also includes 1 registration for the OAuth
Parameters Registry and 2 for the JWT Claims Registry. Both of these
registrations appear to follow the rules specified for those registries.
