Shepherd writeup
draft-rundgren-json-canonicalization-scheme

draft-rundgren-json-canonicalization-scheme has been presented to the
ISE for publication as an Informational RFC on the Independent Stream.

The document describes a scheme to create a canonical representation of
JSON data. The output from the scheme is a "Hashable" representation of
JSON data that can be used by cryptographic methods.

The document was first brought to the ISE on 20180604 after the author
had tried the JSON and JOSE working groups. After discussion between the
ISE authors, the draft was redirected to the Dispatch working group for
consideration.

After a couple of months it was obvious that Dispatch couldn't find an
IETF home for the work, and the draft was brought back to the ISE.

The document has been through a lot of discussion and review including:
- Jim Schaad
- Kathleen Moriarty
- Matt Miller
- The ISE
This resulted in eight revisions.

The reviews were somewhat extensive and are not reproduced in this
write-up. Copies are available on request.

A third party IPR disclosure was filed by one of the authors relating to
IPR possibly owned by VMware.
