Abstract

   This document proposes an extension to do Aliasing and Backup paths
   for EVPN layer-3 routes in an IP-VRF.  The solution leverages the use
   of EVPN Ethernet Segments for an efficient layer-3 load-balancing and
   fast convergence in case of failures.

1.  Introduction

   This document proposes an extension to do Aliasing and Backup paths
   for EVPN layer-3 routes in an IP-VRF.  The solution leverages the use
   of EVPN Ethernet Segments for an efficient layer-3 load-balancing and
   fast convergence in case of failures in two use-cases:

   a.  Inter-subnet-forwarding for host routes in symmetric IRB

   b.  IP-VRF to IP-VRF host or prefix based forwarding
