Shepherd writeup
draft-schanzen-gns

draft-schanzen-gns has been presented to the ISE for
publication as an Informational RFC on the Independent Stream.

==Purpose==

This document specifies a model for naming that makes no use of
centralized authorities. It is intended to co-exist with DNS.

== History==

This specification came to the Independent Submissions Editor in May
of 2021. It was referred for consideration to the DINRG, but there
was no interest. The ISE then admitted the document to the indepenent
stream. This editor pursued the work as following under the
priorities of both continuous and interopability.

==Non-IETF Work==

To my knowledge this work is the result of independent research, and
is not associated with any other external activities.

==Security Considerations==

There are a number of security considerations that are documented in
Section 9 of the specification. See also reviews below.

==IANA==

The document makes no request for IANA action. Indeed it requires a
"GANA" for assignments.

==Reviews==

This memo has received a number of reviews, starting with Dan
Bernstein for crypto, and then followed by Rich Salz for general
security and comment. In addition Jainkang Yao and John Klensin
have reviewed the document for internationalization. There may
yet be issues in that area, but implementation experience may be
needed to better understand them.
