JMAP minutes - 22 Mar 2018 - IETF101, London

Meeting only took 1 hour from 3:50 to 4:50, with 10 attending
locally and 6 remotely.

Discussion of: "fetch text parts, includes images!!!"
* just the list of parts, don't need to fetch the data in same
  round trip, can then extra list of
  actual bits to fetch
* was clarified, all good

Capabilities:
* format discussion - urn is easiest to use and search reliably
* registry - Chris already wrote the text
* makes it easy for future extension writers
* ACTION: urn for standards track docs,
  URI for vendor extensions #185

proxying creationIds?:
* Question about parallelisation
* Have client declare up-front which IDs it's planning to
  backreference? Hard to implement on client.
* ACTION: send to list for more feedback
* ACTION: clarify that client IDs are scoped to request,
  must not be reused within it. #191

anchor offset direction:
* ACTION: make it be 'anchor' + 'position'

IDs:
* already discussed in EXTRA - limit charset to [a-zA-Z0-9_-]
* ACTION: bron - can IMAP atom start/end with - and _ ?

Inline video/audio?
* Alexey - yes, probably should.
* oplevel font/, should it be allowed? - seems silly
* ACTION: allow video/audio #192

Use case for really simple body part:
* all HTML, no dependencies
* Alexey: if you have it, then I'd use it.
* things like web clients would want something like this - stick
  it in a web page
* ACTION: make an extension, fold back if we want towards end #193
* security considerations are going to be fun!

IANA considerations:
* Chris Newman will do #194

EXTENSIONS:
- html body probably
   - requested by WG
- s/mime extension
   - just adds verification status
   - adopted by WG
- imapdata - shelved

Submissions:
- reference defacto XCLIENT extension to SMTP
- do we want to try to pick up and standardise XCLIENT?
- doesn't affect JMAP protocol client/server.
- outside scope for both this group and EXTRA
- ACTION: probably AD sponsored standards-track, Alexey to read
  - Ned: Author or co-author

Test Suite:
- will bring to Montreal hackathon
- hoping it will be an interoperability test

Recommendations for JMAP/IMAP together:
- Alexey will author, Chris Newman also to contribute #195
- Will have something by Montreal
