IETF 101 - MODERN Notes

Problem Statement

- A win Ð the document has been approved to be published
- Potential to align with STIR work

TeRI/DriP

- Martin Thompson Ð Who is interesting, what are the federation options
- Chris Wendt Ð Getting more mature, aligning with STIR
- Eric Rescorla Ð What about blockchain in place of DriP
- Jon Ð Potential for a ledger to play a roll, Drip is meant to be simplier
- Ekr Ð Threat model probably makes gossip mechanism okay
- Martin Thompson Ð Should we wait for deployment experience with STIR?
- Jon Ð Would be nice to see more interest, otherwise continue as a science
project

Adoption Question:
- Chris Ð We might be a little early, it would be good to have it in place
- Ekr Ð One thumb up, need to know if people are interested in it
- Jeff Hodges Ð secure operations of SMS are needed, how do we do it in a
secure fashion - Jon Ð STIR addresses this - Jeff Ð Is STIR deployable without
Teri? - Jon Ð Yes, this is more the back office piece - Dan York Ð Are there
people wanting to deploy this now or are we building something in anticipation
of the need? WhoÕs the consumer? - Jon Ð Started at FCC for all IP Network.
Consumer depends on use case. Valid number list is easy to do with Teri, would
be easy to deliver quickly. - Dan Ð Who is the consumer - Jon Ð Valid number
list might be a user - Mary Barns Ð Thinks itÕs in a good place, long term good
idea given pain in managing numbers - Chris Ð Similar comment based on how
managing numbers is handled now - Jon Ð Low hanging fruit aps like valid
numbers - Rus Renar Ð Two thumbs up and is willing to help - Eric Burger Ð So
long as it doesnÕt interfere with STIR

- Concensus in room is to adopt the document as a working group document.

- To be confirmed on the list
