DMM Working Group – IETF 114
Monday, 25 July 2022, Session III 1500-1700
Room Name: Independence C size: 80
Philadelphia
Chairs: Sri Gundavelli, Dapeng Liu, Satoru Matsushima
Administrivia & Intro, WG organization & milestones, Chairs, 15 min.
Sri Gundavelli (SG) reviews WG status update.
Erik Kline (EK, AD): the Segment Routing document is waiting for the AD
review, not expecting problems.
Regarding the mobility aware transport, John Kaippallimalil (JK) will
make a presentation.
Regardint the user plane and arch analysis on 5G, chairs need to talk to
the authors.
Title: Mobility aware Transport Network Slicing for 5G (10 minutes)
Presenter: Uma Chunduri
Draft:
https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ietf-dmm-tn-aware-mobility-04.txt
John Kaippallimalil (JK) is actually the presenter.
SG ensure that TEAS and DMM work on the document
SG: have the questions/comments from the DMM WG been addressed?
JK: all comments have been addressed.
Tianji Jiang (TJ): clarifing question on UP terminology and alignment
with 3GPP terminology.
TJ: question on resource allocation and signalling on 3GPP and what is
described on the draft.
JK emphasizes that they are not changing anything on 3GPP specs. What
the document does is on the mapping on the transport part.
TJ: you have to find a way to associate 3GPP slicing with the slicing
described in the draft. You need to ask 3GPP to do something.
JK: it's only the mapping between the 3GPP provider and the transport
provider.
Suresh Krisnan (SK): there is nothing changed on 3GPP. It's just
configuring the underlying transport network.
Title: Cryptographically Generated Device identifiers (15 minutes)
Presenter: Sri Gundavelli
Draft:
https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-gundavelli-dmm-device-identifier-00.txt
SG presents the slides.
Carlos J. Bernardos (CB) points out that even if devices use random MAC
addresses, the devices still have a globally unique MAC address.
CB asks about relation to SEND and/or an RFC for criptographically
generated IIDs.
Alissa Cooper (AC): privacy concerns of ANI and CGDI.
JK: is there anything on 3GPP related to ATSSS and dual link access?
Title: Mobility challenges in virtualization environments (5 minutes)
Presenter: Carlos J. Bernardos
Draft:
https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-bernardos-dmm-mobility-virtualization-00.txt
(I cannot capture the discussion, as I'm presenting. But I think there
is support in documenting the use cases in more details, to then see if
there is interest on identifying the gaps and how IETF protocols could
be used/extended).
Title: SFC function mobility with Mobile IPv6 (10 minutes)
Presenter: Carlos J. Bernardos
Draft:
https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-bernardos-dmm-sfc-mobility-04.txt
(same as before, I cannot capture the discussion, as I'm presenting)
Title: Transporting IP/UDP Payload-only in VPNs (15 minutes)
Presenter: Jeffrey Zhang
Draft:
https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-zzhang-bess-ipvpn-payload-only-00.txt
No slides for this.
Title: Mobile User Plane Evolution 15 minutes)
Presenter: Jeffrey Zhang
Draft:
https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-zzhang-dmm-mup-evolution-00.txt
Jeffery Zhang (JF) presents the slides.
