Sessions went well. Most questions in the standards development. Lots of positive comments.
Quick connections not as well attended, but plenty of leadership
Special session with Chinese students brought by Huawei

3) Special sessions for Chinese students - Cheng Li and Georgios Karagiannis

• On Sunday evening (15 March) a special session was organised on (1) how to stimulate the newcomer students to participate and be active during meetings (using queue, etc.) and (2) answering questions coming from students

• Cheng Li provided a presentation on the Chinese Youth Talent Program and listed the steps used in this program to stimulate Chinese (and as well Malaysian) students to participate at IETF125 (1) promoted activity to find sponsors, (2) reached schools and professors in China and Malaysia, (3) survey on selecting students, i.e.,from 80 candidates, selected 60 newcomer students to participate at IETF125

• Good numbers, how to follow on to keep engaged, maybe asking how others do this. Nudging for continued participation (email lists, next meeting, etc.)

• Great initiative to engage participation from China, Malaysia,
  • Need to study and may use as a model
  • Dirk is looking at IRTF-focused training
  • Think about having continuity
    • how to let participants know about programs by other groups? Need to ask IESG
• Why is IETF participation from China underrepresented?

• For students, Different geographies have different ways to value/evaluate different conferences

• Consider how to promote IETF standing in academia,

  • Suggestion that in projects along with publications also focus on International standardisation bodies, such as IETF
  • For RFCs, was suggested to use for Scholarly Publications, the number ISSN 2070-1721
  • Above can be used to calculate Google Scholar H-index, in order to stimulate students to contribute and be active in IETF

4) Updates from I/O Foundation
- Some students couldn't attend in person because of visa issues

- for retention, setting up clubs
- focusing on career devlopment
- Some questions about consolidating 3rd party invoicing (e.g. conslidating per email)
- Create a sandbox registration instance.

5) Outreach update (Dhruv)
- reminders about resources on wiki

6) WG Chairs forum (Karen)
- Anti-trust training/update from RPC
- Suggest topics!

7) Github @ Hackthon 125
- Some comments and input
- considering small group in-person tutorials at Viena (authors, WG participants, WG chairs)
- need to sort out recommendations/guidance/etc.
- starting a conversation about moving YANG models from RFCs to Github
- [need to inform authors about how to move I-Ds to Github]

8) Systers update (Karen/Flo/Carolina)
- Systers networking session/lunch at IETF 125
- slightly lower participation than expected (Benno talked about NomCom participation)
- Ask that the Systers lunch at the first IETF meeting be added to the NomCom chair wiki for handover

9) Guides update (Wes/Paul/Reese/Michelle)
- About a dozen participants. some requests for Mandarin speakers; Cheng Li would like to help

- Interim meeting? Not scheduled, but if there's a topic please suggest it on eodir@ietf.org
- for those running programs for regional participation promotion, share what works in the eodir wiki
- on the hackathon about github: not as many in-person experienced participants
- recommended to Dhruv, Cheng, Dirk, Georgios, Jean Francois to document in a wiki (website) the lessons learned from (1) outreach and (2) Chinese Young Talent Program
