Notes from IETF 89 session of Dispatch WG, 15:20 GMT Monday March 3
Scribe: Paul Kyzivat

* Status & Agenda – Chairs

SIP Dane dispatched to sipcore.

Lossless recording dispatched to siprec.

Announcement for SIPNOC in June.

New SIP Forum/ATIS NNI Task Force

New AD – Alissa Cooper.

Tea presentations to Gonzalo. (Many)

* Dart Charter – DSCP Appliced to Real-Time Transports

Proposed charter for a short term wg was shown. This is to produce
informational draft.

James Polk: said he already proposed alternate text. Says we need a transport
perspective in RAI, and that isn’t captured in current charter text.

Mary: there will be discussion on this – we aren’t adopting the text today.

Mary: Will use RAI Area mailing list for this. (overturned later)

Harald: objects to reusing a mailing list. Create a new one. He supports
creating the wg once the charter is clear.

Question about applicability.

Cullen: intend to explain it in general and also explain specific application
to rtcweb.

Discussion of charter and adoption will occur on the Dispatch mailing list.

The discussion of the work of the group will happen on a new list for the wg.

* OpenBTS – Jim Forster

Proposal: http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/dispatch/current/msg05233.html

Architecture Diagram: Architecture Diagram
Connecting Mobil Phones to the Internet Simply (CoMPLIS).

They have running code – no document other than the code. Want to fix that.

Web Site: openbts.org

Use Cases: Isolated locations w/ thin backhaul, disaster response, Private GSM
Nets (licensed or not).

Work to be done:
- Document the protocol used by existing code.
- Specify call control – SIP Mapping
- Improve spec with ICE
- Need IPv6 implementors guide

For future study:
- webrtc
- others were mentioned

Q/A:

Keith Drage: Asks about roaming. Here you need interop agreements. How are you
linking between HSSs.

Tim Hunt: kind of roaming they are interested in is between two of these cells.

Jim: maybe we should be talking about handoff rather than roaming.

Andrew Allen: is this request to document what is done, or to decide what ought
to be done.

Jim: Wants to start with the working code. But very willing for changes.

Chairs asked for interest from the room. There was a reasonable quorum
interested in working on the problem.

Cullen: will discuss next steps with ADs.
