## Notes:
These notes taken in CodiMD. Anyone participating in the session can add to them

## Agenda:

### Ben Kyemba: IPv6 Deployment - RENU Dual Stack Scenario

  * Q: Fred Baker - go to issues slide. Are there any of these that
we can addressing the IETF? OpenStack has had V6 since Neutron
(~2016). Are other users also using IPv6 in OS?
    * A: Not sure about other users. We are using an older version of OS.

### Jen Linkova: Turning IPv4 off at Google - The day I broke all the
treadmills...

  * Q: Doug Montgomery: Are these numbers for wifi only?  Or wired as well?
    * A: This (Slide 19) is Wi-Fi only - ~25K simultaneous peak on
v6only for 12 pilot sites. Most workstations will work on v6 only if
they had to move.
  * Q: Chongfeng - Why do you think IOT is the main IPv4 use case?
IOT may need more IP addresses, so IPv6 is more suitable for IOT.
    * A: Many IoT vendors don't seem to want to do v6 because nobody
has asked them to support IPv6 - chicken and egg / no expressed
desire. But if you ask them - some of them would enable it.
  * Q:Doug Montgomery to Everyone: would this WG consider hosting a
living document (wiki?) of applications / systems that have identified
issues operating in V6-only environments.    A community effort here
would be useful.
    * A: I started making one, haven't shared it yet. Some things
don't work, some need a workaround.

### Chongfen Xie: IPv6 traffic statistics as seen by China Telecom

  * Q: Davey Song - I would like to ask the floor for clarification
on the IPv6 MAU Ration apps of Alibaba. Clarification that MAU
(Monthly active users) != IPv4 vs IPv6 traffic. IPv4:IPv6==1, but a
person can show up in both V4 and V6, so MAU(v4)+MAU(v6) >=100%
  * Q: Paolo Volpato -  Have you ever measured/experienced any
difference in IPv4 vs. IPv6 performance (e.g. latency)? Are there
cases where IPv6 is faster than IPv4?
     * A: Done some measurements. In most provinces the performance
is similar. In some places v6 perf is slower than in v4. Looking into
upgrading and tuning routing.

     * A/comment: APNICs measurements come from ads, and there is
some bias. It also comes from browser, and most people use apps, and
so there is bias there too. We still think that the APNIC measurement
is useful though, not related to filtering as dfar as we can see.

  * Q: Eduard Vasilenko - On slides we see differnt numbers - % of
traffic is smaller than % of users.
     * A: Many apps in China that are not v6 enabled yet, or only
have v6 in small areas.

### AOB:
#### Topic: draft-ietf-v6ops-464xlat-optimization
  * Jordi: Overview and discussion. Got lots of review and feedfback.
Think it should come out of WGLC and then I can post a new version.
Please review and send feeedback.

  * Fred: 464xlat was put forward as a stateless operation, and was
done here in V6OPS.
  * Fred / Jordi: 464XLAT: Combination of Stateful and Stateless
Translation - should this become an RFC?

  * Q: Who will review?
     * A: Eduard.
     * A: We also got some more comments onlist, so it sounds like
they are reviewing.
  * Fred: Jen, will that address your concerns?
  * Jen: SecConsiderations need more work, and review. Will we do another LC?
  * Jordi: I hope to get a new version out soon (next week?)
  * Jen: DT is locked till July 25. I think we should also consider
if Opt3 is best.
  * Jordi: In v4 CGN operators don't need differnt addresses. In v6
they will need new addresses to match operator well known prefix.

  * *Fred: New WGLC sometime in August.
