Reminder about IoT directorate reviews

Sometimes we get answer to review requests from directorate members that
they "are not experts on the topic". You don't need to be expert, or
often even particularly well informed, of the topic of the draft, but
provide general review with focus on IoT-related topics. Chairs usually
try to assign reviews based on who we think would know the area best,
but sometimes such persons are already authors / active participants or
we don't find a good match and will do best-effort assignments.

Overview of the IETF/IRTF IoT groups

Looking at apps for concise ways to send DNS data (more compact).

• We will not meet at IETF 120; an interim meeting is planned for
  September.
• draft-ietf-roll-aodv-rpl was been submitted to the IESG.
• draft-ietf-roll-dao-projection has been submitted to the IESG.
• draft-ietf-roll-rnfd is in WGLC and will soon close.
• draft-ietf-roll-enrollment-priority next for WGLC.
• Work in progress includes draft-ietf-roll-mopex,
  draft-ietf-roll-nsa-extension, and draft-ietf-roll-capabilities.

SCHC (Alexander Pelov / Pascal Thubert)

CG: SCHC has been having bi-weekly meetings. Main thing is updating the
architecture doc. Will impact other docs. Other topics e.g. draft
focused on zero-energy devices (3GPP background); discussion whether
draft can have bigger scope, not only on low-energy devices but also
scenarios with disruptions. Discussion on SCHC for ICMPv6 and FEC
mechanisms for fragmentation part of SCHC.

the COIN update:

• the COIN use case draft is ready to move to RFC editor
• there has not been a lot of activities on the list
• there is a need for an update of goals and milestones and the chairs
  are discussing it
• there is no meeting planned for Vancouver

T2TRG (Ari Keränen / Carsten Bormann)

Organized face-to-face interim meeting, focused on IoT security
implementation, operation, and systems aspects on May 21st, in Paris.
The meeting was co-located with a hackathon on lightweight IoT security
and had around 30 participants.

Follow-up interim in June on with focus on the use of information,
data, and interaction model, both in general and specifically in the
YANG/CBOR and CoRECONF ecosystem. Next interim on 2024-07-09
(15:00-17:00 UTC)

Not meeting in Vancouver but will meet in Dublin and planning to have
interim meeting(s) before that.

New/planned IETF/IRTF IoT activities

Other SDOs:

CSA (Connectivity Standards Association which is a closed group SDO
supporting Wifi, Zigbee and Thread network devices) completed their
membership meeting in Washington DC on June 27th. Next member meeting
will be in Budapest, Hungary in November. The work is mostly at the
application level for commercial usage.
