Agenda / Notes

All presentations <= 10 minute, <=5 minute Q&A

00 Chair slides

Presenter: Sheng Jiang (local/remote), Toerless

01 Autonomic Distributed troubleshooting

Presenter: Bing Leo, Huawei

Toerless: Would be great to detail out a single example to the level of
details that a PoC implementation could be built, eg. for one of the
routing protocols, determine which protocol state would have to be
observed by the locally runnning ASA agent, what exactly are the
conditions to determine an error. Maybe have that GRASP communication
with the affected peers and through that GRASP communication determine
which of the two peers is the source of the problem - and finally
detremine there are any locally triggered ways to overcome or work
around the issue, or just log/remember/account it locally or through
messages to remote maangement station.

Sheng: Why not rely on ACP ? Liu: might simply not be available in all
environments, for example for IPv4 only networks. Sheng: ok, but just
make it optional, not rule it out. Maybe lightweight GRASP.

07 Home broadband autonomic installation and maintenance

Presenter: Hanting Duan, Chinese Telecom

Toerless: wood be good again to detail a single example agent case for
troubleshooting of home broadband. That also makes it easier to motivate
the possible protocol and implementation details for GRASP when it is
being used to communicate between agents.

03 Application responsive network

Presenter: Feng Yang, China Mobile

Toerless Q: GRASP communications only inter-domain or also inside the
domain ?
Only interodomain - inside the domain, the controller has all the
information already.

04 Automatic Network Congestion Relief

Presenter: Jing Zhao, China Unicom, zhaoj501@chinaunicom.cn

Sheng: Would you consider using GRASP ? Yes, will consider.
Toerless: Example Policy would be great.

05 Autonomic Mobility Capability Negotiation Mechanisms

Presenter: Zhiwei Yan, CNNIC

Sheng: Would need to see more details, also understand
Toerless: designed negotiation protocol based on ICMPv6, but no
implementation yet, also
looked into GRASP. Toerless: Would be good to see what would need to be
signalled in GRASP.

06 Bootstrap of campus network and Service VLAN Auto-Deployment

Presenter: Bing Leo, Huawei

Toerless: There is a wide range of VTP signaling protocols proprietary
in the industry: Cisco VTP, Extreme Networks EAPS (Ethernet Automatic
Protection Switching) and VMAN (VLAN Translation), IEEE VRP. It would be
good to understand/desribe why we would need an IETF defined equivalent
and/or if there are additional requirements not supported by those
pre-existing protocols.

08 Distributed Operations in NASR (Network Attestation for Secure Routing)

Presenter: Peter Liu, Huawei

Toerless: A common problem may be if/that the routing protocol itself
may span the "trusted" and "untrusted" nodes, so information in the IGP
may not be trustworthy enough. GRASP might allow to easier build trusted
signaling domains ?

Skipped/removed from proposal: 02 Knowledge Modeling Method for IP Network Fault Management

Presenter: Hanting Dang, China Telecom
