WG chair update
Robert Sparks has joined the WG as an incoming co-chair.
errata pending for RFC9559:
-
(not actually in the errata system)
-
application/x-font-otf (#921) which should probably be added to
Matroska v5 instead, but it’s just describing legacy Media Types
that should not be used- an extra media type.
- All we need to do is fill out a media type registration and go
through that process - we already have reference to font/otf.
Action Spencer to fill out the registration form and begin the
process
Other errata on RFC9559
We still need to do some analysis on what's actually needed in PR 946
(https://github.com/ietf-wg-cellar/matroska-specification/pull/946)
PR 932 isn't controversial, we can just merge this now
Milestone review:
What document to work on next?
What are low-hanging fruit that can advance quickly?
tags-15 seems ready to go.
need to add tag for latest EBU recommendations, but we don't have all
the information we need to describe the tag yet
https://tech.ebu.ch/publications/r128/
Jerome will check with the right person (bb010g on GitHub regarding
https://github.com/ietf-wg-cellar/matroska-specification/pull/865)
Action Spencer can start heading toward Working Group Last Call for
tags-15
CODEC-14
*** codec-14 has some pull requests
PR 937 - SMPTE12 time code bit order needs to be clarified
PR 745 - needs a rebase and edit
PR 446 needs to be rebased
These aren't controversial, just need some attention
chapter-codecs-05
Have not done much work on this recently (focus has been on first two
Mastroska extension documents)
We do have a reference to a specification that is not public (DVD1 will
always be private)
Action Spencer to chase this reference so we can do the right thing
(we might have a solution as of the end of January 2025!)

Specifications) will be deposited to the National Diet Library (NDL),
Japan (https://www.ndl.go.jp/en/index.html) as technology assets, early
2025."
control-05
This was taken out of the main Matroska specification because we thought
it was underspecified.
We may want to drop this document in the future. The document is not a
priority right now - no one is using it.
AOB?
- We now have FFV1 encoder implementation in ffmpeg. The GPU decoder
is in flight. There is discussion on the ffmpeg-devel mailing list
for FFV1 version 4 improvements.
Next meeting is 2025-02-25.
