Web Bot Auth (WEBBOTAUTH) - Web and Internet Transport Area

Currently, wide practice is for Web sites to identify non-browser
clients using IP addresses, the User-Agent header field, and/or reverse
DNS. All of these techniques have limitations and deficiencies, and at
the same time the need for stronger identify for bots is becoming
stronger, as non-browser traffic on the Web grows in volume and
importance. The community appears to be converging on cryptographic
identity as a solution. This BoF proposes a Working Group to define such
mechanisms.

TLS Exported Attestation (EXPAT) - Security Area

To address the need for enhanced, verifiable trustworthiness, this BOF
proposes to standardize a post-handshake exchange for TLS that enables
the attestation of one or both TLS endpoints.

This may be of interest to 802.

Fast Notification for Traffic Engineering and Load Balancing (FANTEL) - Routing Area

Optimal routing requires more than topology awareness. Real-time,
reliable notification of network conditions is essential to enable
adaptive, intelligent path selection, detect degraded or high-cost
links, and identify congestion hotspots. The Fast Notification for
Traffic Engineering and Load Balancing (FANTEL) BoF will examine the use
cases to perform gap analysis and identify the problem statement and
requirements for such real-time signaling to convey dynamic network
state. The goal is to enable faster restoration, improve the
responsiveness of traffic engineering, and enhance load balancing across
diverse topologies.

Protocol for Transposed Transactions over HTTP (PTTH) - Web and Internet Transport Area

The PTTH BoF will discuss various use cases requiring reversing of HTTP
roles and their implications. While presenters may mention specific
solutions or design proposals, the focus of the meeting will be on
defining the problem space and clarifying use cases. The outcome of the
BoF will define further direction of this initiative: spawn a new
working group, add this initiative into a charter of an existing working
group such as HTTPBIS or choose not to pursue this problem space at this
time.

IEC/IEEE P60802 - Standard - Time-Sensitive Networking Profile for Industrial Automation, PAR Extension

This document defines time-sensitive networking profiles for industrial
automation. The profiles select features, options, configurations,
defaults, protocols, and procedures of bridges, end stations, and LANs
to build industrial automation networks. This document specifies YANG
modules defining read-only information available online and offline as a
digital data sheet. This document also specifies YANG modules for remote
procedure calls and actions to address requirements arising from
industrial automation networks.

P802.1Qdq - Amendment - Shaper Parameter Settings for Bursty Traffic requiring Bounded Latency, PAR Extension

This amendment adds an informative annex that describes recommended
shaper parameter settings for bursty traffic requiring bounded latency.

P802.1Qee - Amendment - Traffic Engineering for Bridged Networks with Significant Delay Variance PAR and CSD

This amendment specifies procedures and YANG to extend bridge attributes
for traffic engineering for bridged networks with delay variance beyond
that supported by the existing specification. Additionally, this
amendment addresses technical and editorial corrections to existing IEEE
Std 802.1Q functionality.

P802.3dq - Amendment - Pin-Optimized PHY Interfaces PAR and CSD

The scope of the project is the specification of additions and
modifications to IEEE Std 802.3 to add one or more new interfaces
between a MAC and a PHY optimized for exposed interconnects. Each
interface may support connections between a single MAC and a single-port
PHY or between multiple MACs and a multiport PHY.

P802.11bt - Amendment to IEEE Standard 802.11-2024

The scope of this standard is to define one medium access control (MAC)
and several physical layer (PHY) specifications for wireless
connectivity for fixed, portable, and moving stations (STAs) within a
local area. This amendment extends 802.11 security to support algorithms
for post- quantum cryptography (PQC). The extension specifies:

a) Authentication and key management (AKM) suites for PQC,
b) Digital signature and key establishment algorithms that use PQC,
c) A password authenticated key exchange that uses PQC, and
d) Modifications to key handshake protocols for PQC.

Éric Vyncke will share a pointer to this work with the IETF Security
Area Directors.

5. Review current coordination items

Potential Areas for IETF/IEEE802 Coordination, v47

25. Layer 2/Layer 3 Interaction for Time-Sensitive Traffic

János Farkas reported that draft-ietf-detnet-controller-plane-framework
and draft-ietf-raw-architecture are currently in IETF Last Call. It is
expected that draft-ietf-detnet-dataplane-taxonomy will be a hot topic
at the WG meeting at IETF 123.

TSN recently published 802.1DGTSN.

P802.1AXdz, IEC/IEEE 60802 and P802.1DP will have RevCom motions at the
July 802 plenary meeting.

P802.1ASed and P802.1AS-2020-Rev will have an SA ballot motion at the
July 802 plenary

P802.1Qdq and P802.1ASds are currently at Working Group ballot.

P802.1DU, P802.1Qdv, and P802.1CBec are currently at Task Group ballot.

The owners of this item will be updated to Ketan Talaulikar and János
Farkas.

27. Development of YANG models in the IEEE 802

The action item on common string formats to represent MAC addresses in
YANG modules remains open.

The owners of this item will be updated to Mahesh Jethanandani and Scott
Mansfield.

33. Capability Discovery

The LSVR WG received a liaison statement from 802.1 on L3DL. The WG will
respond to the liaison statement after discussing it at IETF 123.

The owners of this item will be updated to Ketan Talaulikar and János
Farkas.

35. MAC Address Device Identification for Network and Application Services (MADINAS)

Juan Carlos Zuniga reported that draft-ietf-madinas-use-cases-19 is
expected to be published as an RFC any day now (it just finished AUTH48
in the RFC Editor Queue). Once that document is published, the MADINAS
WG will close, and this coordination item can also be closed.

Potential New Items

Éric Vyncke noted that IANA may request a new ethertype, which would
require coordination, but there is not yet a draft for this.

6. Future meeting plans - Madrid

IETF and IEEE 802 leadership will have a joint in-person meeting in
Madrid on Saturday, 2025-07-26, followed by a DetNet – TSN Workshop in
the afternoon.

7. AOB

James Gilb introduced himself as the new chair of the IEEE 802 LAN/MAN
Standards Committee (LMSC).

Dorothy Stanley said that she will be stepping down as IEEE 802 liaison
to the IETF after the July meeting.
