Operationalizing Network & SErvice abstractioNs (ONSEN) - Operations and Management Area
The ONSEN BoF will build on the IAB NEMOPS workshop and establish
the operators' use of abstractions, as well as the challenges faced, to
enable operators to manage and automate service abstractions and do so
in a consistent manner.
The goal of this BoF is to determine whether there is interest in
forming a working group focused on operationalising service and network
abstractions.
Russ Housley noted that this may be of interest to 802.
Coordinating Agent To Agent List of efforts (CATALIST) - Applications and Real-Time Area
The CATALIST BoF is a non-WG-forming effort to coordinate among the
various initiatives to develop IETF work on AI agent-to-agent
communications. This BoF provides an opportunity to:
- Summarize the ecosystem, including work occurring outside the IETF
at W3C, 3GPP, and the Linux Foundation - Summarize work occurring in IETF side meetings and progressing on
mailing lists. - Identify what work could be pursued in the IETF.
- Identify and share existing IETF working groups that are addressing
use cases related to agent communication.

Item 27. Development of YANG models in the IEEE 802
Glenn Parsons will follow up with Scott Mansfield and Mahesh
Jethanandani on common string formats.
Item 33. Capability Discovery
Russ Housley replied that the LSVR WG has agreed to go in a direction
that does not create a conflict with LLDP, but that the related
Internet-Draft has not yet been posted.
Item 36. Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC)
Paul Wouters said that if IEEE 802.11bt wants pure ML-KEM, it would be
helpful if they could issue a liaison statement saying that.
Item 37. Jumbo Ethernet Frames
Jason Potterf reported that this was discussed in 802.1 and 802.3. There
is agreement that Jumbo Ethernet Frames should be standardized, but no
one has agreed to champion it yet. The current action item is to scope
out the requirements for Jumbo Ethernet Frames.
Item 38. L4S and Wi-Fi
Russ Housley will ask Gorry Fairhurst and Juan Carlos Zuniga to provide
an update.
Potential Future Item: AI Above the MAC Layer
Robert Stacy noted that there is interest from 802 in standardizing
higher-layer interfaces for AI, and asked if IETF is doing any work in
this area.
Andy Newton replied that the answer is currently unclear; the CATALIST
BOF was scoped down to agent-to-agent work, but there will be a number
of unofficial side meetings on AI-related topics at IETF 125.
Russ Housley suggested that the group check in on this topic again at
their next meeting.
