Technical Summary This document specifies how the level 3 multihoming shim protocol (SHIM6) detects failures between two communicating hosts that are using this protocol. It also specifies an exploration protocol for identifying a viable pair of interfaces and/or addresses between SHIM6 hosts. Working Group Summary The document has extensively reviewed by the Working Group. The Working Group consensus was to recommend publication of this document as a Proposed Standard.
