The IANA Functions Operator has reviewed draft-irtf-icnrg-disaster-09 and has the following comments:

We understand that this document doesn't require any registry actions.

While it's often helpful for a document's IANA Considerations section to remain in place upon publication even if there are no actions, if the authors strongly prefer to remove it, we do not object.

If this assessment is not accurate, please respond as soon as possible.

Thank you,

As document shepherd, I would like to request a final IRSG publication poll on
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-irtf-icnrg-disaster/

This document has gone through IRSG Review, with substantial and useful comments from two IRSG members, Marie-Jose Montpetit and Vincent Roca. The authors have re-spun the draft to version -04 and have incorporated changes based on the review comments. The reviewers have confirmed that their review comments have been adequately addressed, with a minor exception.

Vincent generated two additional minor comments which have been fixed. A new draft has been submitted (-07), which now includes IANA considerations and Security Considerations sections, and minor changes to incorporate the necessary material to confirm to RFC5743.  We therefore request final IRSG poll based on this version.

Thanks!

** Considering new section 5.2:
I’m a bit surprised by the last item:
How to retrieve/spread authenticated object names at/to nodes for
decentralised integrity verification and authentication before/
during a disaster?
It suggests that ICN deployment is required before disaster. It’s not just a solution in case of a disaster!

Typos:

** Section 3.1. In:
"E.g. in order to know if his/her relatives are safe or a 'SOS' call need not be supported in an end-to-end manner. »
I guess you mean: « or not, a ’SOS’ … » (missing « not »)

** Section 5.2:
encyrption => encryption

As co-chair of the Information Centric Networking Research Group (ICNRG) and shepherd for this document, I would like to submit Research Directions for Using ICN in Disaster Scenarios for IRSG Review (according to RFC5743, 2.2) and IRTF Last Call.

https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-irtf-icnrg-disaster/
Pages : 17
Date : 2018-02-18
Abstract
Information Centric Networking (ICN) is a new paradigm where the
network provides users with named content, instead of communication
channels between hosts. This document outlines some research
directions for Information Centric Networking with respect to
applying ICN approaches for coping with natural or human-generated,
large-scale disasters.

The technical content has been developed over the last 4 years, and has tracked the evolving research in multiple institutions and geographies on employing ICN techniques for disaster scenarios.

During ICNRG last call, strong support was indicated on the mailing list to advance this document. There were no dissenting views expressed, nor comments requiring a re-spin of the draft.

I believe that this document meets the requirements for RG preparation defined in RFC5743 and that they are ready for IRSG review.

Thanks.

Dave Oran
