MINUTES
-------------------

1. Roll Call, Agenda Bashing, Minutes Approval

The minutes of the 30 September 2013 virtual meeting were approved.

2. Review of Other Action Items from Previous Meetings (not part of the
   shared items list)

CLOSED

- Brian Haberman will work with Michael Johas Teener to form a small
design team to clarify the issues going on in the study group on Time
  Protocols Unification.

- Jon Rosdahl and Ray Pelletier (and Cindy Morgan) to send Doodle poll
  about next F2F meeting.

- Benoit Claise to draft description of new shared work item on CAPWAP
  work and IEEE 802.11

- Dan Romascanu to set up a Doodle for the next coordination
teleconference, week of 27 January 2014.

IN PROGRESS

- Benoit Claise to a draft proposal for tutorial on NETCONF/YANG for
IEEE 802 sometime in 2014 (probably July).

- Juan Carlos Zuniga and Ted Lemon to draft a description of new shared
work item on naming layer 2 networks.

3. March 2014 meetings

The group briefly reviewed the IETF BOFs that will be under
discussion during IETF 89. Pat Thaler noted that it does not look
like anything that was approved for IETF 89 will affect IEEE 802.
Spencer Dawkins noted that the Virtualized Network Function Pool
(VNFPOOL) BOF may be of interest to those who are already following
the work in the Service Function Chaining (SFC) Working Group.

Pat Thaler reported that the PARs for the IEEE 802's March meeting
have not been posted yet. Paul Nikolich indicating that he is
expecting PARs for 802.15 on gigabit wireless and 802.11 on high-
  efficiency wireless.

4. RFC 4441bis

Bernard Aboba reported that draft-iab-rfc4441rev is nearing
completion, with the only outstanding issue being how much of the
informal processes to document. Pat Thaler suggested including some
examples of ways coordination happens informally, but not trying to
document informal processes themselves, as they are can be considered
  temporary.

5. Pervasive monitoring

Stephen Farrell reported that the IETF has been looking at pervasive
monitoring, and had several discussions on the topic during the
previous IETF in November. He noted that the IETF has chartered a new
Working Group, Using TLS in Applications (UTA), and that people are
working to better document the threat model.

Stephen Farrell also reported that the IETF and the W3C are planning a
workshop on Strengthening the Internet Against Pervasive Monitoring
(STRINT) immediately prior to the London IETF. Bernard Aboba noted
that a couple of the position papers received relate to work in IEEE
  802.

Juan Carlos Zuniga noted that he found the Privacy Tutorial that was
presented dung IETF 88 very helpful, and wondered if it might be
presented at a future IEEE 802 meeting. Bernard Aboba was given an
action to ask Alissa Cooper, as head of the IAB Privacy Program, about
  presenting the tutorial for 802.

Mick Seaman observed that current perpass discussions show an
enthusiasm for obscuring MAC addresses, and he is concerned that
people may not be aware of all of the issues involved there. Stephen
Farrell agreed that coordination between IETF and IEEE 802 would be
necessary, and agreed to write up a description for a topic to be
added to the shared work items list.

6. Areas of shared interest between the IETF and IEEE 802
   http://www.iab.org/wp-content/IAB-uploads/2013/01/Potential-areas-for-IETF_IEEE802-Coordination_11.txt

  1. IETF TRILL Fine-grained labeling and IEEE 802.1 tags - CLOSED

  2. IETF BFD and IEEE 802.1AX - CLOSED

  3. IETF NVO3 and IEEE 802.1 DCB

Pat Thaler reported that the status of this item was unchanged, and
that the item will remain open as the drafts continue to develop.

  4. IETF awareness of IEEE 802.1Q-2011 - CLOSED

  5. Effect of virtualization on IEEE 802 architecture

Bob Grow reported that the RAC is planning to publish a statement on
local addressing and seek IETF comment.

  6. IETF EMU and IEEE 802.1X, 802.11 and 802.16 security based on EAP
     - CLOSED

  7. IETF Ethernet MIB, ADSL MIB and IEEE 802.3

Benoit Claise reported that draft-ietf-opsawg-rfc5066bis has been
approved by the IESG and is in the RFC Editor Queue. This item will
remain open until the RFC number is available.

Benoit Claise reported that there is also work on a document that
would transfer MIB work to IEEE 802.1, and is expecting to see the
first version of that document before the IETF 89 I-D submission
    deadline.

  8. IETF 6LOWPAN and IEEE 802.15 - CLOSED

  9. IETF PAWS WG and 802.11, 802.19, 802.22

Dorothy Stanley a call for comments was initiated on draft-ietf-
paws-protocol-08. She is collecting comments from IEEE 802.11 and
plans to send those to the PAWS WG Chairs and Area Directors by 21
    February 2014.

  10. IETF IPPM and LMAP, and IEEE 802.16 Metrology Study Group
      - CLOSED

  11. IETF Mobile IP and EC OmniRAN Study Group

Juan Carlos Zuniga reported that the PAR has been approved at the
802 level and will define a network reference model and a functional
description of the 802 architecture. He expects the work to be of
interest from those involved in the DMM and MIF Working Groups on
    the IETF side.

This work item will remain open; Juan Carlos Zuniga and Max Riegel
will write a more focused description of it for the shared items
    list.

  12. IETF HOKEY and IEEE 802.21 - CLOSED

  13. IETF MIF and IEEE 802.21 - CLOSED

  14. IETF IPFIX Information Elements for Data Link monitoring - CLOSED

  15. IETF RADIUS attributes for IEEE 802 networks

Benoit Claise reported that draft-ietf-radext-ieee802ext is
currently in Last Call and soliciting feedback from 802.1. Mick
Seaman replied that 802.1 had reviewed, and those who were
interested had participated in the work, so there is further action
from 802.1 at this time. Dorothy Stanley noted that 802.11 is also
reviewing the work. This item will remain open for now.

  16. IEEE802.1Q SRP (and Gen2 updates) and RSVP/SIP - CLOSED

  17. IEEE 802.1AS/1588 and NTP

Brian Haberman reported that the work on this topic is currently
happening in 1588, and there is no need for further coordination
between the IETF and IEEE 802 on it at this time. This work item
    will be closed.

  18. 802.1AS/1588, 802.1Q time aware shaper(s) and RTP - CLOSED

  19. Common OAM proposal

Norman Finn reported that the TRILL WG sent a liaison to 802.1.
    (https://datatracker.ietf.org/liaison/1302/) asking for code points
from the Connectivity Fault Management protocol, Ethernet OAM, as
was done with ITU a few years back. 802.1 has drafted a response to
that liaison statement that grants the code points requested by
TRILL; Norman expects it to put it up for ballot in the next week or
    so.

Donald Eastlake noted that the request is to allocate the blocks of
code points to the IETF with the understanding that they will be
assigned by IANA based on IETF Standards Actions; TRILL will be an
early user of some values. Donald has written a draft that
establishes the IANA allocations as a standards action.

Norman Finn noted that there will be a number of followup actions
required once 802.1 approves their liaison response, including
putting the code points into 802.1Q and allocating them to IETF.

This work item will remain open to monitor the status of this, as
well as other more OAM-related I-Ds in the TRILL Working Group that
should be reviewed by IEEE 802.1.

  20. Use of TRILL as an alternative path selection protocol for use in
      802.11 mesh networks - CLOSED

  21. 6tsch

The owners of this shared work item were unable to attend this
meeting. This item will remain open.

  22. CAPWAP extensions in OPSAWG

Benoit Claise reported that there are two relevant drafts in Working
Group Last Call. He sent out via email an updated description of
this item, to be added to the next iteration of the shared work
items list. Dan Romascanu will edit the shared work items list
    accordingly.

7. Review of Action Items, date of the next virtual meeting

- Cindy Morgan to check the attendance numbers from previous face-to-
face meetings and send to Jon Rosdahl and Ray Pelletier for planning
  purposes.

- Bernard Aboba to send ask Alissa Cooper as head of the IAB Privacy
Program about running the Privacy Tutorial for IEEE 802.

- Stephen Farrell to draft a description for a shared work item on
pervasive monitoring for the shared work items list.

- Dan Romascanu to set up a Doodle poll for the next coordination
teleconference, week of 16 June 2014.
