PATENT LICENSE UNDERTAKING

In the AVT Working Group in the Internet Engineering Task Force, a proposal
"RObust Checksum-based header COmpression (ROCCO)" dated June 22, 1999
has been made by Lars-Erik Jonsson at Ericsson, Mikael Degermark at Lulea University,
Hans Hannu at Ericsson, and Krister Svanbro at Ericsson.

When discussing the submission within IETF Ericsson has been requested to
make a statement on patents and licensing relating to the proposal.

This is to affirm that Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson and its subsidiaries, in
accordance with corporate policy, will offer patent licensing for submissions
rightfully made by its employees which are adopted or recommended as a
standard by your organization as follows:

If part(s) of a submission by Ericsson employees is (are) included in a standard
and Ericsson has patents and/or patent application(s) that are essential to
implementation of such included part(s) in said standard, Ericsson is prepared
to grant - on the basis of reciprocity (grantback) - a license on such included
part(s) on reasonable, non-discriminatory terms and conditions.

For the avoidance of doubt this general patent licensing undertaking applies in
particular to the above identified submission dated June 22, 1999.
