RFC2547 and its follow-on  draft-rosen-rfc2547bis are being presented to the
Network Based  VPN (NBVPN) working group,  in the expectation  that the IETF
will eventually issue a standard based on it.

I am writing to  inform you that Cisco has a patent  pending that may relate
to this proposed standard. If this  proposed standard is adopted by IETF and
any  patents  issue  to Cisco  or  its  subsidiaries  with claims  that  are
necessary for practicing this standard, any party will be able to obtain the
right  to  implement,  use  and  distribute the  technology  or  works  when
implementing,  using  or distributing  technology  based  upon the  specific
specification(s)  under  openly  specified,  reasonable,  nondiscriminatory
terms.
