On March 18, 1998, the following was received by the IESG: From: Raul_Medina-Mora@actiontech.com This is to advise the IETF that Action Technologies is willing to grant licenses under our patents which may be applicable to the calendaring and scheduling (C&S) standards being developed in the IETF. This would include the Action patents #5,216,603 and #5,208,748: "Method and Apparatus for Structuring and Managing Human Communications by Explicitly Defining the Types of Communications Permitted Between Participants". In this regard, if implementations of the C&S specifications from the CALSCH committee infringe patents issued to Action, Action agrees upon written request to grant a non-exclusive license under such patents on a nondiscriminatory basis and on reasonable terms and conditions.
