Birdstep Technology has submitted patent application(s) related to the dual
mobile IP design for VPN gateway traversal as described in
draft-ietf-mobileip-vpn-problem-solution-03.txt

Birdstep's objective is to seek intellectual property protection for its
mobile IP client implementation of such a design. If any standards arising
from this document are or become protected by one or more patents assigned
to Birdstep Technology, and if any claims of any issued Birdstep patents are
necessary for practicing such a standard, any party will be able to obtain a
license from Birdstep to use any such patent claims under reasonable,
non-discriminatory terms, with reciprocity, to implement and fully comply
with the standard.
