In furtherance of IETF standardization, it is Verisign's business practice to make licenses to its Intellectual Property available on fair, reasonable, and nondiscriminatory terms and conditions. Standards Development Grant. Verisign retains the sole and exclusive right to terminate the Standards Development Grant, to the extent permitted by applicable laws, and assert its Intellectual Property against any party that institutes or agrees to institute patent litigation (including cross-claims or counterclaims in a lawsuit), either directly or indirectly, against Verisign or any of its affiliates or products (“Defensive Termination Right”). The Standards Development Grant will terminate upon the earlier of: (i) expiration of the I-D; (ii) the date the I-D is published in the Request for Comments ("RFC") Series; or (iii) the date Verisign exercises the Defensive Termination Right. Grant on Standardization. (i) terminate the above license, to the extent permitted by applicable laws, and assert its Essential Claims against any party that institutes or agrees to institute patent litigation (including cross-claims or counterclaims in a lawsuit), either directly or indirectly, against Verisign or any of its affiliates or products, (ii) assert its Intellectual Property (including Essential Claims) relating to any products or services that are not fully compliant with the Specification, (iii) assert its other patents and claims with respect to any products, services, or portions thereof, not required for compliance with the Specification and exclusive of the Essential Claims. Verisign encourages any party relying on the Grant on Standardization license to cite compliance with the Specification and include the following attribution: Royalty-bearing licenses may be available upon request. |
