After reviewing RFC 3979, I have reluctantly concluded that I must submit
the following disclosure regarding draft-sgudave-mip6-proxymip6-00.txt,
recently submitted to the Mobile IPv6 Working Group. According to RFC 3979,
participants in an IETF discussion about an Internet draft are required to
send email to this address if they are aware of IPR that may possibly be
claimed on a draft even if the IPR has not been filed by themselves or their
company.

Below is a list of patents or patent applications at least one year old
filed in the US or EU, listed in the Delphion database, which I believe may
be relevant to the Proxy MIPv6 technology described in the aformentioned
draft. I'd especially like to draw your attention to the first item on the
list. In addition to the items on the list, there are several patents or
applications, assigned, relating to specific technical aspects of how to
implement Proxy MIP on wireless LAN. I did not list these here because they
seemed peripheral to the base technology, but their existence may also
influence IETF discussion.

-------------------------------------------------------------

US20040013116A1: Method of providing mobile IP functionality for a non
mobile IP capable mobile node and switching device for acting as a mobile IP
proxy, by Marc Gries and Stefano Faccin, no assignee. Describes a Proxy
Mobile IP design specifically for the 3GPP architecture but not for any one
specific version of Mobile IP.

US6795857: Methods and apparatus for providing mobility of a node that does
not support mobility, by Kent Leung and Gopal Dommety, assigned to Cisco
Systems, San Jose. Describes a Proxy Mobile IP design for the MIPv4
architecture. There is also an earlier filing with the same title, I assume
this one updates the earlier filing.

US6982967: Methods and apparatus for implementing a proxy mobile node in a
wireless local area network, by Kent Leung, assigned to Cisco Systems, San
Jose. Describes a refinement on US6795857, for triggering Proxy Mobile IPv4
registration.

US20040013099A1: Method and apparatus for extending mobile IP, by Alan
O'Neill , no assignee. Design for a system to allow a Mobile IP Proxy to
continue proxying when the mobile node goes into dormant mode, even if the
mobile node support client Mobile IP. Doesn't seem specific to either MIPv4
or MIPv6.

US20060182104A1: Method and apparatus for registering mobile node in a
wireless local area network (LAN) environment, by Min-ho Lee, Young-keun
Kim, and Pyung-soo Kim, assigned to Samsung Electronics Co., Korea. A design
for a system to allow Proxy Mobile IP registration in wireless LAN networks.
Described for the MIPv4 architecture. This is also covered by EP1691510A1.

EP1618723A1, US20040213260A1: Method and Apparatus for Securing Proxy Mobile
IP, by Kent Keung and Gopal Dommety, assigned to Cisco Systems, San Jose.
Describes a node authenticating method using source IP address and home
address to perform proxy registration. Seems specific to wireless LAN.

US20040114559A1: Inter-proxy communication protocol for mobile IP, by
Huizhao Wang, assigned to Cisco Systems, San Jose. Describes a method for
using inter-proxy messages to perform registration.
