This liaison notifies about the creation of the new work item Y.SAN.

During the ITU-T SG13 Rapporteur Group Meeting (Geneva, 14-25 November 2022),
Q2/13 (Next-generation network (NGN) evolution with innovative technologies
including software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization
(NFV)) created a new work item on “requirements and architecture of service
aware network” (Y.SAN: TD142-R1/WP3).

Y.SAN provides the requirements and architecture of service aware network to
enhance service awareness and end-to-end scheduling capabilities.

The Y.SAN has some relationship with the following ITU-T Recommendations: ITU-T
Y.2301, ITU-T Y.2303, ITU-T Y.2323,ITU-T Y.2324 and the ongoing draft
Recommendations Y.SFO, Y.NGNe-MC-reqts, Y.NGNe-NCI-reqts in ITU-T Q2/13 and
IETF Application-aware Networking (APN) Framework. ITU-T Q2/13 would like to
thank you for your attention, feedback and cooperation on this topic.

In addition, please find below the A.1 justification form for the new work item
Y.SAN.
