Dear Colleagues, The IEEE 802.1 Working Group would like to thank ITU-T Study Group 13 for the information provided in liaison statement 156 https://www.ieee802.org/1/files/public/docs2024/liaison-itu-t-SG13-LS156- DetermNetwrking-apr24.pdf on work items related to deterministic networking in SG13. The IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee is chartered to work on local area networks and metropolitan area networks as explained in former liaison statements provided: https://www.ieee802.org/1/files/public/docs2021/liaison-response-itu-t-SG13-LS217-determcommunics- 1121-v01.pdf, https://www.ieee802.org/1/files/public/docs2023/liaison-response-itu-t-SG13- DeterminCommunicSvcsandNetworking-0323.pdf. These former liaison statements explain that the IEEE 802.1 Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) Task Group (TG) is responsible for deterministic communications in local and metropolitan area networks. Liaison statements are an important mechanism for communication between organizations. We believe real collaboration occurs when delegates from both organizations communicate, and consensus is reached in each organization according to their rules and procedures. A lack of reply from the IEEE 802.1 Working Group does not imply agreement with a received liaison statement. Note that the IEEE 802 work is open and contribution driven. Participation is on an individual basis and technical discussion can be conducted based on individual contributions. The TSN Task Group holds regular electronic meetings: details are available at https://1.ieee802.org/wg-calendar. Respectfully submitted, Glenn Parsons Chair, IEEE 802.1 Working Group |
