Dear Mr Lavoie,
Thank you for your liaison providing an update on the BBF WT-454i2 / Network
Resource Model work and its relationship to the IETF IVY WG drafts. We
appreciate BBF keeping us informed and highlighting the dependencies on our
network inventory and topology work.

The IVY WG has made significant progress on the drafts you mentioned:
– draft-ietf-ivy-network-inventory-yang is progressing towards Working Group
Last Call, which we expect to initiate in Q4 2025. Our target is to submit to
the IESG soon after, with RFC publication anticipated in 2026, subject to IESG
review and the RFC Editor process. – draft-ietf-ivy-network-inventory-location
and draft-ietf-ivy-network-inventory-software still need some work to be done
by the working group but we expect to bring them to working group last call by
mid of 2026.

For awareness, in the IETF the path from a working group draft to an RFC
involves several stages. After completion of working group consensus and Last
Call, a draft is submitted to the IESG for review and approval. Once approved,
the draft enters the RFC Editor queue, where it is subject to editorial
processing and final publication. The duration of these steps can vary
depending on the complexity of the document, reviews required, and the queue at
the time. As a result, the working group can indicate expected milestones, but
it is not possible to commit to firm publication dates in advance.

We welcome continued coordination with BBF to ensure alignment between IVY and
WT-454i2 deliverables, and suggest maintaining regular updates as your work
advances towards approval and publication.
