A: OK. Q(Doug Montgomery): Do you have the ability to choose a route based on the overall service chain? A: What we have done for now is take a decision based on shortest buffer. Nonetheless if you have the augmented view you can use in my opinion any path computation algorithm to take a more complex decision if needed. And you could also make forceful thing using for instance as SRV6 to do that. Q (Diego Lopez): how do you control the life cycle associated with the routing? A: for now we do not deal with the life cycle, it's static. Qur 1st paper have experimented some load balance scenario, will start another to change for the balance. It is possible to modify the traffic engineering doing that. Comment(Diego Lopez): You also need to define wow to make the decision to scale out, how this was propagated through the routing updates. 4. Discussion: Q (MJM - chair hat off): What you are bringing with this architecture is not clear. Suggest to make a differentiation of what is already existing in automated industrial environment in the next version, clearly identify between what is your suggestion and what is currently happening. A: Nice suggestion, will think about that. Q (Jeff Tantsura): Your next step is drafting a transport protocol? Do you mean that is new to existing transport protocol? A: There is violation of the internet principles so typically so we don't think that it will work with the existing protocols or at least not out of the box. So the end host somehow have to know that someone in the middle is interfering with what they are doing and this is actually what I meant on the draft of transfer protocol. Comment (Jeff Tantsura): sounds like MQP-like protocol. 5. The implication is that “need tight network-app coupling” for real time video analytics. Discussion: Q (Eve): there is Meta data specific to these kinds of cascades? A: If you want to leverage the server logic feedback, it is better to have a standardized version of metadata, and generalize feedback would be useful. This is early stage of research, it makes some assumption on what the video will look like. Let the server see something, if it is not usual, the server will ask for more info. The other thing, confidence as in this neural network usually have some scores attached to each detection, which is useful info for neural network. Q (Emile Stephan): Will the bitrate be changing a lot or pretty stable? A: It’s content dependent. Not at a scale of 2 magnitude, it’s usually within one magnitude. Neural network assume certain input size. It will resize smaller, not full scale. If you have this number of layers, how to lay out /spread across the layers? Good question for this RG. Q (Dave O.): How much time is there between the bottom and the peak? 10 ms? How many RTTs do I have before I see the spike? A: Sub-seconds, it do need several iterations to catch the spike. Q (Dave O.): Given the edge resource are constrained, not just in compute but also memory. Can I proffer enough of this peak to keep the data long enough to get the resource? (memory bottleneck ) Further Q (Dave O.): Do you need the model everywhere so you can get the model in right space. A: The cameras usually have pretty large storage and buffering. Q (Shawn?): How urgent is it to understand what the camera sees? I think it’s really urgent that the neural network to be on the camera. A: Yes, there’re 2 extreme cases. A self-driving car with lots of resource, everything must be super real-time. We want everything local, versus have a bunch of surveillance cameras, much cheaper than you have on self-driving car, you need to have a networked system to analyze the data. Discussion: Q (Dirk Kutscher): for the service chaining implementation what are the information units those functions actually operate on a terminating some application protocol? A: In the draft we assume service function chaining to extend service function chain (which we saw in the presentation) to the entire name base so you issue a URL based requests (rather than an IP based request) and service function chain as well, as presented in the service function chaining; it's always associated with some form of control. We don't use another manner for control. Our service function chaining is defined in the application (see the application design): you specify that micro chain of RPD, we are also looking at the frameworks that automates that and therefore essentially construct an actual name service chain which is then translated and added to the name service function. Q (Dirk Kutscher): What are receiving and sending? Is it a flow of packets or how does it work? A: The draft at the moment outlines the packet is the actual HTTP request so it's not IP packet. And HTTP is an example for a named extension. 8.
