# IETF 110: Technology Deep Dive on DNS, Part 2

This session will be held 17:00-19:00 UTC on 4 March 2021 and will cover, in detail, the operational realities and technical nuances of the Domain Name System, a central building block for today’s Internet.



The DNS - loosely coherent... and loosely defined... It follows on from the [Technology Deep Dive during IETF 108](https://www.ietf.org/live/previous/ietf108-live/ietf108-tdd-dns/>,), which provided in introduction to the technical design of the DNS. This session will explain that we lied to you last time, that the real world is much messier than you'd ever imagined, and that there are many many lurking dragons.

João Damas](https://datatracker.ietf.org/person/Joao Damas) is a Senior Scientist at [APNIC](https://www.apnic.net/) and a long-time IETF participant.

**Wes Hardaker**
Wes Hardaker](https://datatracker.ietf.org/person/Wes Hardaker) is a Senior Computer Scientist at [USC/ISI](https://www.isi.edu/). He is principally responsible for the operation and management of the Internet’s b.root-servers.net DNS critical infrastructure. Mr. Hardaker is also developing research programs to enhance the DNS and other Internet protocols within the IETF, where he has been actively participating for over 20 years.

**Geoff Huston**
[Geoff Huston](https://datatracker.ietf.org/person/Geoff Huston) has been an IETF participant for many years and is Chief Scientist at [APNIC](https://www.isi.edu/).

**Warren Kumari**
[Warren Kumari](https://datatracker.ietf.org/person/Warren Kumari) currently works for [Google](https://www.google.com/) in the Internet Evangelism group, and has been with the company since 2005. He has over 20 years of experience in the Internet industry, ranging from tiny start-up ISPs to large enterprises. Prior to serving as IETF Operations and Management Area director Warren chaired the OpSec, OpsAWG, DPRIVE, DANE and CAPPORT working groups.
