CCAMP Minutes Monday, July 26, 2021 12:00-14:00 (Meeting time) - 19:00-21:00 (UTC) Monday Session I Presentation Start Time Duration Information 0 12:00 15 Title: Administrivia - WG Status - Reporting on WG drafts not being presented - Milestones Update - Charter Update Presenter: Chairs 1 12:15 15 Title: A YANG Data Model for Optical Impairment-aware Topology Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-ccamp-optical-impairment-topology-yang Presenter: S.Belotti/D.Beller Sergio presenting update. Daniele: Bring the discussions on 3R regenerations to the list to have more views (in addition to the weekly calls) Sergio: we have a YANG solution at the moment. In my view there is not a right/wrong solution but just different approaches. During the call the majority of the people were in favour of the first option. Not expecting major feedback. Daniele: Do you plan to keep both options open? Sergio: The model is already there. The majority are in favour of the first option. Hence, the yang model follows that approach. 2 12:30 10 Title: A YANG Data Model for Layer 0 Types - Revision 2 Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-esdih-ccamp-layer0-types-ext/ Presenter: S.Belotti/D.Beller Gabriele: Document is very good and I like it, but saw an extension of layer 0 types, but I would you to indicate how to proceed with the using the extension. Both the extensiona and working group document are important. Daniele: But we did a poll for adoption. Gabriele: That was for the 0 type document, but I was querying about the extension, and how that could be available. Adrian: We were hoping to hear an adoption poll, and be able to give us a date. Daniele: We will be starting it after IETF 111, waiting for one reply. Sergio: Just to confirm what Adrian understood: The last author has answered/confirmed in the last couple of days. Daniele: That¡¯s great, I just hadn¡¯t seen it. 3 12:40 15 Title: A YANG model to manage the optical interface parameters for an external transponder in a WDM network Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-ccamp-dwdm-if-param-yang/ Presenter: G.Galimberti/G.Grammel Robert Wilton: Is the interface just a l1 construct? The draft just covers the Layer 1 and extends the IETF Interface Model (already available). Do the Layer 2 statistics make sense here? Gabriele: Based on the model, they are photonic nodes. The statistics are related to power, etc. It could be extended going to OTN (after FEC buildign block), eg. OTU / ODU (but there are other models covering this part). What might be missing is a document joining all layers together so you can correlate the statistics. Robert Wilton: Is augmenting IETF interfaces is the right choice (vs a standalone model)? Gabriele: As the existing interfaces were already available for other layers¡ why not DWDM too? Robert Wilton: There was some ¡°assumption¡± that interfaces were L2 (and above). Be careful of the expectations / uderstandings Haomian: you have mentioned the alignment of mode-id with the optical impairments but the draft is showing G.698.2 mode instead of standard mode Gabriele: maybe it is a mistake to be fixed 4 12:55 15 Title: A YANG Data Model for Flexi-Grid Optical Networks and flexi-gird media channels Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-ccamp-flexigrid-yang/ Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-ccamp-flexigrid-media-channel-yang-03 Presenter: Daniel King No comments/questions. 5 13:10 15 Title: Transport Northbound Interface Applicability Statement and Applicability of ACTN to Packet Optical Integration Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/ietf-ccamp-transport-nbi-app-statement Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/ietf-teas-actn-poi-applicability Presenter: Daniel King T-NBI Applicability: I missed some questions here. Daniele: This is an information document, I doubt that we will add anything significant means that it will need to go through WGLC. Daniel: Italo and I will have a review session, and send an update to the list of what has changed. If there is anything significant then we will leave it to the chairs to decide on whether further WG review is required. Daniele: I thought that you replies to most of the comments (to the routing directorate review) Daniel: Yes, I still have some comments, but would like to see if I can make the document slightly shorter. Haomian: This is useful work, and there will be more modules, so we need to think about the needs to continue this work after it has been published. Daniel: it is an on-going challenge, also in the context of the next draft. The use cases are continuing to evolve. As soon as we add new use cases the documents will become harder to complete. Maybe this is an issue to discuss with ADs. With this document we can close now and if there are new use cases we can start new documents. John (from the chat): The question of how the IETF should handle living documents comes up from time to time. We haven¡¯t really come to a fully satisfying answer. ACTN POI Applicability: No comments/questions 6 13:25 15 Title: A YANG Data Model for Transport Network Client Signals and client signal performance monitoring Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-ccamp-client-signal-yang Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-zheng-ccamp-client-pm-yang Presenter: Haomian Zheng Client signal: Daniele: what is missing? We should try to avoid the issue above of endless draft development Haomian: we are doing a consistency check before requesting WG LC Client PM: Daniele: Regarding adoption: Can we take this question to the list? Regarding the usefulness, it can be confirmed. 7 13:40 10 Title: OTN Slicing Draft Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-zheng-ccamp-yang-otn-slicing Presenter: Aihua Guo Comments/questions to the list 8 13:50 10 Title: YANG Data Model for FlexE Management Draft: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/ draft-wang-ccamp-flexe-yang-cm Presenter: Minxue WANG/Yuanlong JIANG Comments/questions to the list Adjourn 14:04
