# IETF-112 MANET working group meeting Friday 2021-11-12 16:00 - 17:00 UTC (17:00 - 18:00 CET) Meetecho Room 6 ( https://meetings.conf.meetecho.com/ietf112/?group=manet&short=&item=1 ) Co-chairs: Don Fedyk dfedyk@labn.net, Ronald in 't Velt ronald.intvelt@tno.nl Responsible AD: Alvaro Retana aretana.ietf@gmail.com Note taking: https://codimd.ietf.org/notes-ietf-112-manet Jabber: xmpp:manet@jabber.ietf.org?join Agenda ====== Agenda items 1 - 6: https://datatracker.ietf.org/meeting/112/materials/slides-112-manet-chair-slides-01 ## 1. Administrativa, chairs, 5 min. - Note Well, Agenda bashing, etc. ## 2. WG draft status, chairs, 5 min. - https://datatracker.ietf.org/group/manet/documents/ - credit-based flow control drafts under TSV ART review ## 3. DLEP errata resolution, 5 min. Rick Taylor: Volunteers to take this action. Alvaro Retana: Asked the RFC Editor to reopen erratum 6472. We need to agree on the text. Rick Taylor: All the implementations seem to do it right but the text needs to be corrected. ## 4. WGLC-ing draft-ietf-manet-dlep-ether-credit-extension, 5 min. - No immediate objections from attendants to WGLC-ing this draft. Will go ahead with this. ## 5. PHY-related DLEP extension drafts, 10 min. https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-rogge-manet-dlep-radio-band/ https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-rogge-manet-dlep-channel-utilization/ https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-rogge-manet-dlep-radio-quality/ - Discussion on WG Adoption Ronald: draft-rogge-manet-dlep-radio-band currently expired, will ask author to revive it. Ronald: These I-Ds need more review and comments. Ronald to (re-)start discussion on dlep-radio-quality on the list. ## 6. Future work (revisited), 10 min. - OLSRv2 router restart recommendations - DLEP clarifications & Lessons Learned I-D - (other) Ronald: OLSRv2 Restart can be fixed by using recommended configuration [Post-meeting note by Ronald: That is what I said, but it is obviously wrong. What I should have said, is that no changes to RFC 7181 are deemed necessary, but implementations may need to be updated with heuristics for addressing the issue. Guidance on how to handle this could be the subject of an informational RFC]. Should take to the list. Ronald: Anybody interested in working on DLEP clarifications and lessons learned? Ideas on content presented by Rick Taylor and Lou Berger in IETF-110 session, but they have indicated that they don't have time. Ronald: Multicast - Opportunity for work in the WG but no discussions or material. There are proprietary solutions out there. Ronald: Non-charter item: Federation of Heterogeneous MANETs - Could cover Unicast and Multicast Lou Berger: On the Routing Overlay - Overlap with RAW which is trying to solve deterministic service. There is an architecture document. Plan to start regular meetings. Rick Taylor: Agree. There is some overlap. The Federation of Radio networks is an active area. There will be some interims on the subject. Abdussalam Baryun: Agree the RAW and MANET are important. But MANET is different than LLN. [Misunderstanding: RAW, not ROLL]. ## 7. DTN Network Management, Ed Birrane, 20 min. https://datatracker.ietf.org/meeting/112/materials/slides-112-manet-dtn-network-management-00 (Previously known as Asynchronous Management Architecture) Ronald: Invited Ed to present this, with a view to applicability to manets. Very happy that he agreed. Don Fedyk: Would these items be applicable to regular networks with less delay. Ed (Paraphrasing what I heard) Yes many of the feature can be used in places of limited network bandwidth or where some autonomous networking aspects are useful.
