This renaming is not a CNAME. The registrar renames ns2.foo.com \"in place\" to dropthishost-xxxx.biz. So everything that used that specific host object as a nameserver now automatically uses the new name. That means because of the renaming, in the resolution process instead of getting ns2.foo.com as the authoritative nameserver one will get dropthishost-xxxx.biz
