IETF 115 proceedings

IETF overview

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is the premier Internet standards body, developing open standards through open processes.

The IETF is a large open international community of network designers, operators, vendors, and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet’s architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet.

The mission of the IETF is to make the Internet work better by producing high quality, relevant technical documents that influence the way people design, use, and manage the Internet. [RFC 3935]

Technical activities in the IETF are addressed within working groups organized into Areas. IETF working groups conduct their business via email lists and with interim working group meetings, aside from the IETF meetings held three times per year. Each Area is led by Area Directors, who together with the IETF Chair, comprise the Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG).

The IETF Secretariat is managed by Association Management Solutions, LLC (AMS), led by the IETF Managing Director, Alexa Morris.

The IETF Administration LLC (IETF LLC) provides the corporate legal home for the IETF, the Internet Architecture Board (IAB), and the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) and is managed by the IETF Executive Director, Jay Daley, who is overseen by the IETF LLC Board of Directors.

IETF meetings are a week long and include IETF Hackathons, working group and plenary sessions, as well as sessions organized by the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) and Internet Research Task Force (IRTF). Following each meeting, the IETF Secretariat publishes meeting proceedings, which contain reports from all of the groups that met, as well as presentation slides, where available. The proceedings also include a summary of the standards-related activities that took place since the previous IETF meeting.

Meeting minutes, working group charters (including information about the working group mailing lists), and general information on current IETF activities are available via the IETF Datatracker.
