# DMM session at IETF116 {#dmm-session-at-ietf116} ## Administrivia & Intro, WG organization & milestones, Chairs, 5 min. {#administrivia--intro-wg-organization--milestones-chairs-5-min} Carlos Bernardos (CB) and John Kaippallimalil (JK) are the note takers. ## Working Group Drafts {#working-group-drafts} Mobility aware Transport Network Slicing for 5G, draft-ietf-dmm-tn-aware-mobility, John Kaippallimalil, 15 min. JK presents the slides. No update since last meeting. JK recaps what the draft is about and what remains to be done. JK wants to request more WG reviews and ask for WGLC. Satoru Matsushima (SM): wants to review the document, but indicates that he is confused about some aspects of the draft (mobility aware transport vs transport aware mobility, UDP port and 3GPP interface-id). JK proposes to take the comments offline and discuss with SM. Sri Gundavelli (SG) request to go through the document one more time and provide a clean version before getting WG reviews. ## Individual Drafts {#individual-drafts} Mobile traffic steering - room for more standardization?, Marco Liebsch, 15min. \[no active one but plenty from the past.\] Marco Liebsch (ML) presents the slides. Jeffrey Zhang (JZ): host routes can be used to handle this (3GPP considered this at some point, but finally it was not considered interesting). SG (WG chair hat off): mobility control plane will also expose events. What is the work item in item 4 (marked in Marco's slides). ML: SR, encapsulation can be used. SG: but it does not requires standardization work, no? ML: document alternatives. David Lake (DL): interested in the problems. is there any way that we an look at what the application wants to do instead of what the network wants to do? ML: we don't refer to GTP, we want to be abstract. DL: I don't care about the technology I use to connect. What we need to do is to allow the application tell the network what its want to do. Can we start stripping some of what the 3GPP is doing here? ML: higher layers might take care of this, but one goal of this work is to discuss if there is still value on doing IP address continuity. Tianji Jiang (TJ): 3GPP already defines non-3GPP access. 23.501 defines 3 SSC modes and 3 ways of allocating IP addresses. Can you look at that? ML concludes that there is interest in the group to look into this. SG asks to continue the discussion on the mailing list. Mobile User Plane Evolution, Tianji Jiang, 15min. draft-zzhang-dmm-mup-evolution Tianji Jiang (TJ) presents the slides. SG: any relation with the work from ML? Emergency 911 Services over Wi-Fi, Sri Gundavelli, 15min. draft-gundavelli-dispatch-e911-wifi SG present the slides. Interested in feedback from thw WG and which WGs are relevant for this. Luay Jalil (LJ): you can make 911 calls with wifi today. SG: but your device has an operator. The assumption is that the mobile has no network. DL: connectivity and service problems. JZ: technology wise I see two problems: how to connect without a SIM, and how to be locate in the network. Erik Kline (EK): as an individual, RFC 6225 might be useful. Intarea might be the right WG to discuss this work. SRv6 Mobile User Plane Architecture, Satoru Matsushima, 15min. draft-mhkk-dmm-srv6mup-architecture SM presents the slides. JZ: key of this architecture is that GTP encap/decap happens locally and the after that packet is either locally routed or VPN routed to the central network nodes. ... For WG adoption, we need to make this document SR agnostic, make the document truly generic. I support the adoption when the document reaches this stage. Architecture Discussion on SRv6 Mobile User plane, Miya Kohno, 10min. draft-kohno-dmm-srv6mob-arch Miya Kohno (MK) presents the slides. SM: more people should read the document and provide some feedback/discussion online before asking for WG adoption. Mobility Capability Negotiation as a 5G Mobility Pattern, Zhiwei Yan, 10min. draft-yan-dmm-man Zhiwei Yan (ZY) presents the slides. Carlos J Bernardos (CJB): What is the IETF scope in this presentation? TJ: Interesting work. Need to dig out the relevance to IETF dmm. MIPv6 RAW mobility, Carlos J. Bernardos, 10min. draft-bernardos-raw-mobility CJB presents the slides.
