WG Status, Chairs, 15 minutes
Notes:
Chairs: Looking for 3 shepherds to review
draft-ietf-bier-bgp-ls-bier-ext-16, Ran Chen, 5 minutes
Notes:
Ran: underlay drafts passed WGLC and doc ready for next steps
Chair: work has been around for a while.
Chairs: Waiting for further progressing
Andrew (A): should be going to LSR instead of IDR for review.
draft-ietf-bier-source-protection-05, Sandy Zhang, 10 minutes
Notes:
Sandy: informational draft. Three modes (Cold/Warm/Hot from RFC9026)
this is used for transport layer technology. duplicate sources are
excluded
MVPN is used as BIER overlay
Asking for WGLC. Draft was alreday adopted during IETF110
Chairs: 2 people read draft
Greg Mirsky: suggests synchronisation with OAM BIER documents
Stig: did not read latest version and wants to read the draft again. DF
forwarder electin is relevant for this and question is if this document
should wait for the DF election to be finalised?
Greg (chair): maybe good to wait until the document is stable to get
this into the document
Stig: The DF election draft is at BIER and is fairly new. It is not
quite clear if BIER is the correct WG.
Greg (chair): PIM should review DF election too. Best to keep the draft
in BIER as the work started in BIER
Vote: yes: 9 No: 0 no opinion: 9
Update on P4 Tofino implementation experiences with advanced stateless
multicast source routing, Steffen Lindner (remote), 15 minutes
Notes:
Steffen: presents the slides
Greg: What is the intention for this work?
Steffen: If the WG finds this work interresting, then happy to document
into a draft
Greg: Tony has a comment about IPR on the chat (please share on the WG)
Greg: This tests are great. BIER like to work together and please submit
the work in a draft
EANTC achievement, Hooman Bidgoli, 15 minutes
Notes:
Hooman: success with signalling BIER with ISIS, sending BIER packets
(256 bits) and participants were successfull forwarding
(Nokia/Juniper/Huawei/Ixia). Tests during 3 days. not enough time for
proving ECMP.
Whats next: NG-MVPN overlay next year and live demo at the Paris MPLS
COngress 2024
Jeff Tantsura: This was dataplane MPLS correct. Is there any work on
BGP?
Stig: Did you test traffic or just control plane. Answer: yes 400Gig
traffic
Hooman: used Ixia to send dataplane traffic
Xuesong (Huawei): There is also test about IPv6 ext Header forwarding
Hooman: it was not part of this test and can not comment
Greg: This work was not work adopted here, so please take the work to
the list if relevant. We focus upon work progressed and accepted in this
WG
draft-chen-bier-anycast-label-00, Siyu Chen, 10 minutes
Notes:
Siyu: presenting the draft
Greg: minimizing the impact upon IGP state
Greg: Trying to understand the problem being trying to be solved.
Jeffrey: IGP convergence is fast, but some may be arguing it is stil not
fast enough. BIER could use technologies underlay uses directly to speed
up FRR. It s unclear to understand the exact problem being solved here
Siyu: there are some SDWAN use cases that could be looked at.
draft-xzlnp-bier-ioam-07, Xiao Min, 10 minutes
Notes:
Xiao: 3 options for encapsulating IOAM over BIER
IOAM headers are treated as BIER ext headers
option to skip IAOM and other BIER ext headers
asking for WG adoption for draft-zzhang-bier-extention-headers
asking for WG adoption of draft-xzlnp-bier-ioam-07
Greg: askes WG if the requiremets draft should be progressed as WG draft
to keep WG history documented instead of requiring to find expired
drafts
Andrew: Use-case drafts and problems statements are usefull and may be a
fine discussion for the WG to have to keep track on progress
Gunter: Speaking as earlier co-chair of other WG , the existance of
use-case and KPIs can be usefull. It also helps finding users of the
technology to help specify and understand KPI
