# Minutes Grow Monday ## Opening Chair: Job Snijders ## Rechartering effort, Mohamed Boucadair Charter is outdated. Update scope and milestones. Med prepared a draft of the new charter, Job will share the link ( at time of taking minutes: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/charter-ietf-grow/04-01/ ). Input from other ADs & feedback and discussion on the mailing-list is welcome. ## draft-ietf-grow-bmp-tlv, Paolo Lucente Presentation of the slides. John Scudder recommends that if there should be a brief text about timestamps, better doing it in this document than creating a new one. Thomas Graf would like to get the IANA code points assigned asap for this draft as there is implementation work already going on. Maxence Younsi points that AFI/SAFI could be scrapped from Stateless Parsing TLV. Narasimha Prasad asks for clarification about timestamping. Paolo clarifies the idea is to make it mandatory and not optional. Ben Maddison says he finds confusing the wording around the version change. Volunteers to do a PR on GitHub for an editorial review. ## draft-ietf-grow-bmp-tlv-ebit, Paolo Lucente Presentation of the slides. ## draft-ietf-grow-bmp-rel, Paolo Lucente Presentation of the slides. Narasimha Prasad asks what are the intended use-cases for the draft. Paolo replies he is collecting feedback, let's totally chat about it offline, input is very welcome. ## draft-pcm-grow-bmp-adj-ribs-filtered, Paolo Lucente Presentation of the slides. Todo item for the Chairs to issue a WG Adoption call ## draft-ietf-grow-bmp-bgp-rib-stats, Jeff Haas Presentation of the document (no slides). Job Snijders points out that all assignments were made from the Standards Action of the registry and not FCFS. Todo item for the Chairs to issue a WGLC ## draft-spd-grow-bmp-purge, Narasimha Prasad Presentation of the slides. Luuk Hendricks asks if we could implement the idea without using flags because they are a scarce resource. Prasad agrees maybe a TLV could be used instead. Jeff Haas says to not squeeze things and encourages to possibly leverage the mechanisms of BMP version 4 Ben Maddison wonders whether we could use a new BMP Message Type Job Snijders, as Chair, summarizes that feedback hereby received should be taken into consideration before a WG adoption call ## draft-patki-grow-bmp-common-updates, Narasimha Prasad Presentation of the slides. Paolo Lucente comments that flags are a premium, stat types can be linearized because for how many there can be, they are periodical messages. Prasad clarifies the flags were for the Route Monitoring message. Paolo also comments that having two alternatives is good to foster discussion but then the document should lean to only one option. Jeff Haas wonders how many people are using BMP to monitor Route Reflectors; BMP is born as an edge technology and hence Adj-Rib-In Pre- and Post- policy will likely be fundamentally different. Jeff adds that probably some savings can be achieved with Adj-Rib-Out implementing something similar to a Peer Group. Prasad welcomes the feedback and he is going to talk to authors of the draft of compressed updates as well. Ben Maddison, speaking as an operator, he confirms the intuition of Jeff. ## draft-ietf-grow-bmp-loc-peer, Maxence Younsi Presentation of the slides. ## Closing The Chairs comment we will reconvene in the second session of GROW taking place on Thursday.
