RMT minutes IETF65 Dallas Lorenzo Vicisano, WG chair Mark Pullen, scribe ---------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL * Agenda bashing: none * Latest accomplishments: FEC BB submitted standards track TFMCC submitted experimental Several experimental RFC targeted for standards track: pi-alc, bb-lct, bb-fec-basic-schemes-revised, flute-revised, norm-pi-revised, bb-norm-revised New work intended for standard track: fev-raptor-object, bb-fec-ldpc, fec-rs * Report from Allison: -really great documents ready to go- expects good progress in IESG -when NORM does last call, it needs to state "we are intentionally referencing an experimental RFC" (tfmcc BB) * draft-faurite-rmt-tesla-for-alc-norm also in progress; is not a WG document because of timing, but is likely to be "officially" adopted by the MSEC WG * IPR change in Raptor: Digital Fountain has changed IPR terms in their Raptor document they were trying to promote it in open standards but for business reasons they "need to pull away from the IETF's all-or-nothing requirement" Scott Bradner comment: there is no IETF requirement for a particular IPR statement; Digital Fountain could release IP for a specific standard Others present supported the notion of a standard with some restricted IPR because there is a lot of interest in Raptor; said it is probably the most efficient of RMT FEC encoders; no negative statements were made Allison: the important thing is to document that the WG knew about the IPR restriction when it reached the consensus decision to go ahead with Raptor in the standards track document Lorenzo: noted that all statements at the meeting were in favor of continuing with standards track for Raptor, stated that the issue also will be brought to the mailing list --------------------------------------------------------------------- I-D PRESENTATIONS * Vincent Roca: LDPC Staircase/Triangle FEC I-D has dealt with all open points that were presented at Vancouver and updated reference implementation; one more version to come with Intellectual Property statement moved to IETF PRI disclosure web site; then will be ready for WG last call * Vincent Roca: Reed-Solomon FEC scheme I-D has been revised to deal with technical errors that were described at IETF64 * Vincent Roca: TESLA for ALC and NORM: received comments that the scope of the I-D was too large; has changed to deal only with TESLA; also made other corrections; remaining open points (mostly for MSEC) - possibility of key chain switch - bootstrapping in or out of band - other security points Would like to move this document to MSEC WG because it is more closely associated with their topics but will still present it in both WG. This received support but with the note that it must be covered by the MSEC charter. * Brian Adamson: NORM update: to stay synchronized with other RMT documents and other IETF document requirements; other issues: whether to make "source_id", "instance_id", "object_id" consistent with LCT; Lorenzo encouraged not to make any changes that don't have very high value; conclusion was that changes are not necessary * Mark Watson: FEC Building Block: has final changes as agreed for standards track * Mark Watson: FEC Basic Schemes has final changes as agreed and clarifies use of Compact-No-Code FEC field for other FEC; ready for WG last call? (objections; Lorenzo recommended to go forward) * Mark Watson: Layer Coding Transport (LCT) final changes as agreed; some changes on time value header fields; ready for WG last call? (no objection; will go forward)
