Minutes of the HIP WG Session at IETF 70 ======================================== Minutes edited by Gonzalo Camarillo Based on notes by Jeffrey Ahrenholz and Andrew MacGregor Meeting chaired by Gonzalo Camarillo and David Ward Slides presented included in the proceedings Tuesday, December 4th, 1650-1750 -------------------------------- Topic: Agenda Bash Discussions led by: Chairs The chairs presented the current status of the WG. A batch of five drafts, which included the base specification, had been approved by the IESG a few hours before the meeting. The chairs also presented potential new work to be tackled when the current chartered items are in a more mature state. Given that the P2PSIP WG is looking at HIP as a potential technology to be used in their architecture, the chairs encouraged HIP WG participants to participate in those discussions. Topic: NAT Traversal Design Team Status Update Discussion led by: Miika Komu Relevant documents: draft-ietf-hip-nat-traversal-02.txt draft-tschofenig-hip-ice-00.txt One of the decisions the design team needed to make was whether to use STUN or HIP for end-to-end connectivity checks. Jonathan Rosenberg, author of the ICE specification, supported the use of STUN. There was support for HIP in the room as well. The design team met two days later and decided to use STUN. On a different issue, it was suggested that the NAT Traversal for HIP specification will need to specify a mandatory to implement mechanism to gather address candidates. Other mechanisms should be optional. Topic: Checksum Coverage Discussion led by: Philip Mathews Relevant documents: draft-dawkins-hip-checksum-coverage-00.txt The chairs informed the group that the Internet Area Directors want this issue to be discussed and the Internet-area level, given that this issue may affect other protocols than HIP. Topic: Six/one Site Multihoming Discussion led by: Christian Vogt Relevant documents: draft-vogt-rrg-six-one-00.txt Christian presented his slides but there was not time for discussions. The meeting ended.
