Moderator(s) Andrew Malis and Loa Andersson See more detail below [19:00-19:30] + Open microphone session ------------- "MPLS turns 12: A successful protocol's history and lessons learned" Many consider MPLS a success, in the sense of RFC 5812's "What Makes for a Successful Protocol?". The session analyzes MPLS, offering a case study of the creation and operation of a successful protocol and its generally-applicable lessons learned. Four speakers will enumerate MPLS's clear benefits and its less obvious effects on the overall Internet architecture, including its effects on higher-layer protocol/application operation and delivery. The speakers represent operator, industry forum, and vendor perspectives. We expect attendees to walk away with at least one or two practical concepts applicable to improving the success outcome of their protocol(s) of focus, as well as learning more about MPLS technology and benefits. 0. "Intro and meeting chairs" Andrew Malis and/or Loa Andersson 1. "MPLS history - MPLS becoming a teenager" George Swallow, Cisco 2. "Operator perspective - the why's , how's, and obstacles" Tom Bechly, Verizon Business/MCI 3. "Vendor perspective - The development of the Technology" Kireeti Kompella, Juniper ---- $Id: tech-agenda.txt 19 2009-03-05 11:39:10Z olaf $ FRIDAY, March 27, 2009 0800-0900 Continental Breakfast - Yosemite Foyer/East Lounge 0900-1130 Morning Session I Imperial B APP morg Message Organization WG Continental 4 INT softwire Softwires WG Imperial A IRTF rrg Routing Research Group Continental 6 RAI sipping Session Initiation Proposal Investigation WG Continental 1&2 SEC ipsecme IP Security Maintenance and Extensions WG Continental 3 OPS radext RADIUS EXTensions WG Franciscan A TSV pcn Congestion and Pre-Congestion Notification WG 1130-1300 Break 1300-1400 Afternoon Session I Continental 4 RAI p2psip Peer-to-Peer Session Initiation Protocol WG Imperial A IRTF rrg Routing Research Group Imperial B OPS v6ops IPv6 Operations WG Franciscan A TSV rmt Reliable Multicast Transport WG 1415-1515 Afternoon Session II Continental 4 RAI p2psip Peer-to-Peer Session Initiation Protocol WG Imperial A IRTF rrg Routing Research Group Franciscan A TSV rmt Reliable Multicast Transport WG ====================================================================
