Moderator(s) Andrew Malis and Loa Andersson See more detail below [19:00-19:30] + Open microphone session ------------- "MPLS turns 12: A successful protocol's history and lessons learned" Many consider MPLS a success, in the sense of RFC 5812's "What Makes for a Successful Protocol?". The session analyzes MPLS, offering a case study of the creation and operation of a successful protocol and its generally-applicable lessons learned. Four speakers will enumerate MPLS's clear benefits and its less obvious effects on the overall Internet architecture, including its effects on higher-layer protocol/application operation and delivery. The speakers represent operator, industry forum, and vendor perspectives. We expect attendees to walk away with at least one or two practical concepts applicable to improving the success outcome of their protocol(s) of focus, as well as learning more about MPLS technology and benefits. 0.
