6lowpan WG -- IETF 78, Maastricht, Netherlands Monday, July 26, 0900 - 1130 London Room ---------------------------------------------- Agenda: Introduction and Administrivia - Chairs Header Compression - J Hui Neighbor Discovery - Z. Shelby BB Router - P. Thubert RA Suppression - L. Toutain HIP - R. Moskowitz Lightweight Routing - Y. Qiu TCP Header Compression - L. Toutain 6lowpan mobility - C. Williams Fragment Recovery - P. Thubert ----------------------------------- Meeting Discussion: -- Introduction Carsten covered the agenda as well as an overview of the WG milestones HC draft has been through LC - possibly one more LC Security Analysis - languishing Architecture - no work being done Routing Requirements - ISEG review ND Optimization - LC Use Cases - LC -- HC Draft Jonathan Hui presented the current status of the 6lowpan HC draft draft-ietf-6lowpan-hc-07. Added text to deal with compressed headers when using 4944 fragmentation Added text on mapping between link-layer addresses and IIDs. Proposed change to deal with IP-in-IP. Will update draft and one final LC -- Other header compression for 6lowpan There have been a couple of drafts on how to compress other protocols such as ICMP, TCP and a generic header compression. Will continue to discuss on list. Will not impact HC draft. -- ND Draft Draft-ietf-6lowpan-nd-11 Since Anaheim: new registration using NS/NA clarifications and integrated feedback from Zigbee interop Basically use 4861 mechanisms optimized for host-router interface Address registration using NS/NA Optional DAD Optional multi-hop prefix and context dissemination ND-12 will be published this week. Plan to LC ND-12 -- BB Draft draft-thubert-6lowpan-backbone-router-02 This was work that was started in previous ND draft and was split from the draft. Added registration from RPL Presented what is a Backbone Router and it use and functions. Much discussion surrounding the benefits of this approach and its scaling. Concerns raised about this approach. Suggestions to author to determine scaling and advisibility. Appears further work required by author before making this a working group item -- RA Suppression draft-toutain-6lowpan-ra-suppression-01.txt Why? ND is still to complex for lowpans and consume energy How? Define an implicit prefix. Discussion that you could do this today with nd draft. Didn't seem necessary. No consensus in room to move forward with this draft. -- HIP DEX for 802.15.4 key management Robert explained what HIP was and how HIP DEX was different than HIP BEX. Simplified (on a diet). HIP DEX would provide a mechanism for key managment for lowpans. Uses ECDH. No HASH and no digital signatures No PFS -- Secure Router Skipped due to time constraints -- TCP/HC Skipped due to time constraints -- Simple Fragment Recovery draft-thubert-6lowpan-simple-fragment-recovery-07 Pascal presented his draft on fragment recovery. Why? 6lowpan packets could be large and the loss of a fragment would cause the entire large packet to be retransmitted. How? 32 bit ACK bitmap, congestion control, control multipath Much discussion about the usefullness or necessity. More work requested of author. No consensus to move forward with draft as WG document.
