APPSAWG/APPAREA meeting minutes IETF 84 -- Vancouver, CA July 31, 2012 Room "Georgia B" The meeting began at 9:00am. *** APPSAWG Minutes Agenda bashed. The co-chairs provided a summary of documents published and in progress. Barry Leiba (AD) discussed draft-ietf-appsawg-http-forwarded: We need some comments on the open registration scheme issue, and also on ABNF preferences. draft-ietf-appsawg-media-type-suffix-regs is nearly done, and draft-ietf-appsawg-media-type-regs is on hold waiting for it. Open issues include a couple of questions from Alexey Melnikov and a suggestion for W3C linkage by Larry Masinter. Murray will try to get Tony to comment ASAP so we can get it moving. draft-ietf-appsawg-webfinger has been brought in and the working group should begin development of it. Murray has a co-author for draft-ietf-appsawg-malformed-mail so it will be moving soon as well. The new proposal for milestones and "expanded shepherding" (see Barry's upcoming draft) was briefly discussed, and we'll be moving forward with it. Murray had already introduced it to the mailing list. Mark Nottingham has picked up draft-ietf-appsawg-json-patch and draft-ietf-appsawg-json-pointer. He went over current issues. They will progress more or less as-is, and he will implement "test" in the patch document to get some experience with it and report back. The working group will adopt draft-saintandre-acct-uri, which it expects will be fairly straightforward. Marco ? presented draft-goix-appsawg-enum-sn-service. QUESTION: Should APPS adopt this, or ask RAI to adopt it? Dave Crocker requests that a clarification of the problem this draft is trying to solve be posted to apps-discuss. Murray and Alexey recapped draft-ordogh-spam-reporting-using-imap. Came to us from OMA for development, but is subject to an unpublished patent application. We'll revisit this once we know more about what's in the patent application, which should become visible later this year. Randall Gellens offered to exhume an old draft he did from several years ago along this path, which is prior art and unencumbered. *** APPAREA Minutes BoF previews: - RFC Format, on Tuesday (Paul Hoffman spoke) - DSII, on Tuesday (Ted Hardie spoke) - RMCAT (Harald Alvestrand spoke) New Working Groups: - WEIRDS (WHOIS++) on Wednesday (Andrew Sullivan spoke) - SCIM on Friday - IMAPMOVE is a small IMAP WG (Alexey, Ned Freed co-chairs) Other sessions of interest: - SAAG, for general security information and activity - DANE, mostly done the security stuff, now mainly APPS focused - Mark discussed status of HTTPBIS - Johan Pouwelse discussed upcoming activity in TSVAREA Presentations: - OpenID Connect (Mike Jones): discovery protocol change to webfinger?
