Minutes of the EMAN meeting at IETF 85 in Atlanta 35 people attended the meeting Requirements for Energy Management -09 -------------------------------------- Presented by Juergen Quittek - Made changes suggested since IETF-84 - WGLC completed, 11-29 October. 3 reviews, lots of comments + 3 reviews - New issue: could we delete section 7.6, 'Indicating source of remote information?' - New revision when above issue resolved, then ready to submit Energy Management Framework -05 ------------------------------- Presented by John Parello - Authors/Editors have been working on this, using IETF Issue Tracker; 26 issues, 13 resolved so far. Three issues to review: #7 Component and Device Modelling = Proposed: a component may be modelled in EMAN as either a device or a component (which has no power interface) > Strong consensus, issue to be closed #26 Power Quality, as compared with ASHRAE 201P - The EMAN term 'power characteristics' conflicts with a common use of the term for specifying the power that a device draws when operational = Proposed: replace "power characteristics" with "power attributes," and rename section "6.5.2 Optional Power Quality" to "6.5.2 Optional Power Attributes" > No objections from room, issue to be closed #6,8 Power States and Curtailment - IEEE 1621 uses states and state changes, 201P uses curtailment (max allowed power level). EMAN power states have attributes, e.g. absolute value, percent of maximum, name, option ordering. Proposed to define an additional set of EMAN power states = Four solutions considered, see slides > Strong consensus for solution 1, keep 'Power State' and 'Power State Sets;' issue to be closed Noted that an object may change states within its current curtailment level = These decisions will be published on the EMAN list (via these meeting minutes), to allow any further comments. They will be closed after a week with no such comments. = Authors/Editors will continue work on the remaining issues. New revision(s) to be published, WGLC once all issues are closed. Energy-aware Networks and Devices MIB -07 ----------------------------------------- Presented by John Parello. - Must still check if all the requirements are covered = New version once Requirements draft is submitted Entity MIBv4 -03 ---------------- Presented by Dan Romascanu - Many changes made (see slides), may need some further revision after IETF/IESG review > Strong consensus that authors will do one more revision, then Nevil will submit to IESG Power and Energy Monitoring MIB -04 ----------------------------------- Presented by John Parello (for Mouli Chandramouli). - Several changes, two remaining open issues - Waiting for Framework to become stable, will need to check that all the requirements are met Battery MIB -07 --------------- Presented by Juergen Quittek - Fairly stable, has been waiting for Entity MIBv4 - "Lots of new issues raised in reviews from battery community," these will be discussed on the list = Waiting on Entity MIBv4 and Framework Applicability Statement -02 --------------------------- Presented by Bruce Nordman. - Many changes (see slides), needs more text about ASHRAE 201P - Help offered (Kerry Lynn) for info about Zigbee in buildings = Should be ready for WGLC once Requirements and Framework are done Milestones ---------- The Chairs presented the dates from our charter page. - no changes were proposed Other Drafts ------------ Use Cases for Power-Aware Networks (Mingui Zhang) - This is a requirements draft Requirements for Power Aware Network (Jie Dong) - Similar goals to above - Needs to use EMAN power state and consumption values Green Usage MIB (Satoru Izumi) - A tiny MIB providing energy state information for any kind of device Nanogrids (Bruce Nordham) - Layered model for power distribution network (see slides) - 'Nanogrid' = narrow waist of power layers, peer-to-peer interactions inside, external only to one hop away -----
