Minutes for TICTOC and NTP WGs - IETF 87 Tuesday, 30 July 2013, 0900-1130 CEST (0700-0930 UTC) ======================================================== Karen O'Donoghue called the meeting to order. Co-chair Yaakov Stein participated remotely. 1. Administrativia and Agenda Bashing Karen O'Donoghue presented the Note Well slide and agenda. There were no proposed changes to the agenda 2. WG Status Karen reported on the status of various wg documents. The following have completed WGLC and are being forwarded the IESG: draft-ietf-tictoc-security-requirements draft-ietf-tictoc-ptp-mib The follow has been proposed as an experimental working group item and is pending a charter update: draft-shpiner-multi-path-synchronization-01 3. Enterprise profile for IEEE 1588 draft-ietf-tictoc-ptp-enterprise-profile-00 Heiko Gerstung presented the update to the enterprise profile. There was some discussion about 1588 profiles being developed in other standards organizations and the coordination between these profiles. It is expected that with one more update, this document will be ready for WGLC. 4. Transporting Timing messages over MPLS Networks draft-ietf-tictoc-1588overmpls Sharam Davari presented the latest update on the MPLS effort. This work continues to face some opposition. After much discussion, it was decided that Karen would present a request for review and contribution on the draft in the MPLS working group. (The result of that discussion in the MPLS WG, which occurred later in the week, is that the MPLS chairs would establish a review team, and a follow-on conference call would discuss the results of review.) 5. NTP WG status and update Karen provided an update on the status of the ntp working group. The following draft has been accepted as a wg item: draft-mizrahi-ntp-extension-field-02 Editors are being solicited for the NTP control protocol draft. 6. Network Time Security (autokey replacement) draft-ietf-ntp-network-time-security-00 Dieter Sibold presented the updated network time security draft that addresses vulnerabilities in the ntp autokey protocol. A number of updates were made since the last IETF. Further review and discussion is requested from the ntp, tictoc, and ntp developer communities. An virtual interim may be scheduled to help facilitate discussions. 7. Using UDP Checksum Trailers in NTP draft-mizrahi-ntp-checksum-trailer-00 Tal Mizrahi provided an update on the above draft. There is working group interest to continue the development of this draft. Karen will talk to Brian about updating the charter. 8. IEEE 1588 update (O'Donoghue) Karen provided an update on the IEEE 1588 group. The PAR has been approved and the technical efforts are just getting underway. Five subcommittees have been established to progress the efforts: Maintenance, High Accuracy, Architecture, Security, and Management. Expect additional information in the future. 9. ITU-T SG15/Q13 update Stefano Ruffini provided an update on the efforts of the ITU-T SG15/Q13 as part of the ongoing coordination between the two groups. The meeting adjourned.
